I'm gonna try Universe Of Energy for the 1st time in 15 years, will I be disapointed?

Each to their own I guess...Roll on the rehab. If only it could be what was proposed instead of Ellen:

The Universe Of Energy - Ellen's Energy Adventure is one of my favourite attractions throughout Walt Disney World, many people do like to critise it for a number of reasons but I like the mixture of comedy, education and the Disney Magic added into the attraction, i'm sure as long as you do not mind the 45 minute length of an attraction you will love it.

A couple of times  :hammer: :snore: May the Force be with you!

Well we will be there for 10 days and since I won't be spending NEARLY as much time as I used to in Tomorrowland :animwink: , I'll have quite a bit of spare time to see some things in danger of changing. I'll have to see O' Canada at least 3 times. And if WoL were open........I don't know how many times I would ride Body Wars. It would at least be in the double digits.

Woah.... Do you have more pics of that?! That looks amazing!

I do enjoy the current show though. Bill Nye, Ellen, and Jamie Lee Curtis are all great. Plus its really interesting.

I think UOE stinks. The only entraining part is the dinosaurs. The rest, in my opinion, is a huge waste of time. I think it more a less a ride for old people. Just keep in mind, that's only My opinion

I think Ellen is a much needed addition. This ride used to be insanely boring (except for the 5 minute ride through the dinosaurs). However, now that I have the Ellen version nearly memorized it's not as fun anymore. It's hard to justify spending nearly an hour at an attraction that isn't as fun as the others.

But if you havent seen the "new" version yet I'd highly recommend it. I loved it the first time I saw it.

I'm a fan of this ride because:
1) I'm a huge dinosaur fan
2) I'm a huge Ellen fan
3) I have fond Bill Nye memories as a kid (dude, those videos were awesome)

Also, I think it is educational (however basic the lesson), but it does go over things like the Big Bang and such, which should be interesting to all children with active minds.

Not only that, but it's so relaxing! I love the darkness.

But that's just me, if you don't like it, don't ride it. I'll get on the ride faster. :)

The only "educational" ride that I never liked in WDW was food rocks. I think I'm scarred for life.

unfortunately....... it has been about the same amount of time for me since the last 2 times it was down for either rehab (ellen addition) or maintanence......... bummer, i really needed a 45 min. cool down from the sun.

EDIT: i wonder, how long was the Ellen rehab......... i just wonder if those 2 visits were under the same rehab (98 and 2000)?

Marni, please write more. :D

P.S. I'm hearing the budget for the new UoE "plans" are not liked by upper departments. So no clue what the fate of Ellen might be. It's a really great show.

I totally agree that the original UoE was a :snore: ...

Howver though I'm ok with the current show, I do think the ride needs a rehab, shortened, but not character oriented. Such as no more Ellen, etc. yet somehow the ride could still not be as :snore: as the original. :hammer:

I do miss the Radok screens, Large gold curtains, giant mirrors, let alone the ones that used to cover the entire pavilion, the pavilion symbol, and those two theme songs."Energyyyyyy these are a few of your faces....la la la"

It's a good attraction to do when you're tired and need to sit for a while...

My wife hates it when I call it my 'Ellen's Energy Nap"

But yeah, she enjoys the show, and I enjoy the cool seat for 20+ minutes in a dark place in the middle of the day. Guess I'm one of the "old people" that this ride is for. (and I'm only 36) :p

I think you'll enjoy it because while it has been revamped, it's also a ride that nearly everyone likes their first time around. It's not exactly the best ride to do for repeats though... it's quite long.

Congratulation Christina on your graduation. Enjoy your summer!

Like you I remembered enjoying the show the first time I saw it about 15 years ago and also remembered thinking "wow, this is really serious stuff". Now it is a bit more light hearted and funny. I still really enjoy it. I have read that some dont like the preshow, but last time I was there I thought the preshow was funny and helped the time pass. I also do like Ellen and her sense of humor. I also recommend riding after you have walked around for a while because it is nice to have a nice long sit. Some people think it is too long, but I think it is just fine, I am on vacation and not in a hurry.

The Ellen version is the only I've ever known, and I love it. The fact that with wait + pre-show + ride, you're committing at least one full hour of your park touring time to one attraction is often a real turn-off for people I go with or hear talking. It really goes by fast, though, and only gets boring occasionally. I think the KNRG radio part is a bit out of place, but I love the rest. Of course, I'm an Ellen fan and think that her parts are hilarious and bring so much to the attraction. At any rate, it's worth a try. You just might love it, especially if you liked the original (or so I read here).
