this is a kind of spur of the moment trip
(egged on by the low rates beginning that day)
and i'm not really sure what to expect crowd-wise on jan 2-5th.

i'm hoping that most of the BIG new year's crowds will be going home but i'm not sure.

is it still really busy, or will i be able to walk on a lot of rides?

can anyone here fill me in on what to expect?

thanks a bunch in advance!!

It's still busy, but no where near NYD and before. Crowds will thin out as your trip goes on. I wouldn't expect to walk on all rides, but lines shouldn't be too outragous.

Hope you like cheerleaders, they invade for a college competition around the 4th of January, oh and bring a jacket, gloves, scarf, hat, sweatshirt, and at least one pair of long pants at that time of year it does get down to 40 degrees Farenheit or less. I've been there over new year's eve 3/5 years past and have ridden Splash Mountain in 40 degree weather in all those clothing items I listed, but then again it can be nice and warm too, just preping you.

Yeah, but if you live where it's like 5 degrees right now, 40 is short sleeves weather. :) It got up to 38 here today, and I wasn' t wearing a jacket it was so nice :)

My wife and I decided to do the same thing and will be down there on the exact same days. If you are at Epcot on the 3rd, check out the Living Seas at about 5:30pm. My wife and I will be in the Aquarium looking back out at you.

It's a great time to go. Cheap and the Christmas decorations will still be up! I did it in 1999, and it was great.

awesome, thanks!

thanks for the heads up!

sure, i like cheerleaders as much a the next guy (i just don't say it too loud around my wife) and i don't mind the cold...i was just worried it was gonna be really busy.

we're coming with another couple who have never been so i was hoping we'd be able to hit a lot of the highlights 'round the world.

if i see anything interesting i'll be sure to take some pics!

thanks again!!

:)

I went to MGM on Jan 2nd of 2002, and Tower of Terror had a 13 minute line (their way of saying "walk on"), and RNRC had a 30 min wait.... everything else was less.......

You say that now, until they're doing stupid cheers in line, on the buses, in cafeterias...everywhere....you'll want to puncture your own eardrums to make it stop. :)

I went in early Jan 2000. Now I think back, there were a lot of cheerleaders, which was nice. Weather was good as I remember, mid 70's or higher most of the time. Not much in the way of lines at the rides.

ENJOY

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the crowds were a little on the heavy side. Because both Christmas and New Years fall on Wednesdays this year, most school systems have winter vacations until the 5th, so the throngs may be there up until then. Not to burst your bubble, but don't be shocked if you get some bad Christmas residue crowds.
