Illuminations is by far the most best fireworks show at WDW now. I highly doubt its departure of any sorts in the future. This show is a keeper. It is also my favorite show.

You can book reservations to go out on a boat into the lagoon for the show. Heard it's pretty good, but you have to be careful of the wind/smoke. We're gonna try to get in when we go this fall.

Go here... http://wdwig.com/illum.htm

Their are two types: Pontoon boat @ $120+tax or Breathless ChrisCraft reproduction @ $179.24 +tax

You rent the whole boat so you can fill it with your friends!

Were gonna do the Breathless, I hear the driver will give a really fast and fun ride after the firework disply if you want to "get wet". :sohappy:

Edit: DOH! Moustronaut beat me to the post! :brick:

No, one price pays for the rental of the whole boat and the driver for the cruise. You can get 6-7 on Breathless and about 10 on the Pontoon boat.

From what I've read from other people that have done them, they park you near/under the bridge near the Illuminations VIP area, but I could be wrong in the location, but it's near/under one of them.

We saw the boats in October when we went to WDW.

They park just in front of the International gateway bridge between France and the UK.

The show did have a budget cut after the 2000 celebration was over... but not since then, and only minor effects were removed. Some fireworks, most noticably the sea wall launch fireworks at the end of the show, were replaced with cheaper fireworks. Other then that, it's all the same, just without GE.

We were just there Mid-March. I hadn't seen it since '96 and I thought this one was so much better. It was really enjoyable. They do present it from GE.

I was just at epcot this weekend and watched the Illuminations show. I've seent the show numerous times but this time was great. I think this was the best show I've ever seen. The changed around some of the lighting effects in the ball, the water barges shoot higher, the fire barge seems to have more gas to it and the end fireworks seem to be cut back enough so that there is less smoke making the earth more visible. Has anybody else been recently and noticed this?

Not any more. GE gave up their sponsorship recently.

GE gave up their sponsorship recently

Within the past 3 or 4 weeks? They didn't say much, just "because GE brings good things to light..." and then say how many minutes til Illuminations would begin.
