IllumiNations and Showcase Plaza

Greetings, all... A quick question here -- I suppose it falls into trip planning. On the park maps for EPCOT, the area marked as 'showcase plaza' or something similar to that is shown directly across the lagoon from American Adventure (probably in the middle of an imaginary line drawn between Spaceship Earth and American Adventure). Just looking at the maps alone, this appears to be a prime location from which to view IllumiNations/ROE. Does it work out well in real life, or is there something there that makes it a not-so-great place to view the show (stages in the way, reserved for parties, all you see is the 'back' of some show elements, etc)? I've been to the park several times before, but have always viewed the show from the WS side, usually around either Norway or Canada, and have forgotten to scope out the showcase plaza area. Any help is appreciated.

I have seen from all around World Showcase.

I prefer to see it from the Showcase Plaza area, anywhere from Mexico to Canada. If you find a good spot, it is amazing. Everything feels as if it was made to be seen from this spot.

I have seen Illuminations several times around the world showcase. My favorite viewing spots are aound china, and the bridges between uk and france. There is a walkway that goes down closer to the water here, and it is amazing. this is also close to where the cruise boat parks.

Showcase Plaza is a nice central area to watch the fireworks however more often than not all the smoke from the fireworks blows over that way. And you are also more likely to get crowded out by folk. The Rose and Crown is an excellent spot, (thats not just,my bias again but a senior CM came down once and told us we had the best seat in the house for watching them.) Now tho they have taken those seats away so folk from inside the restuarant can come out and watch. But there are still some really god seats in the garden to watch the fireworks, especially the ones by the wall.

Back to the q. in hand, china is a good place and so is the bridge between the UK and France.
