Hi all.

One quick question about the original Illuminations show that they used to do at Epcot Center.: When did the USA light up as the capitol? I watcched martin smith's tribute for it and in the begining (when hes explaining the show) there is a shot of the USA all light up in white and a projection-i think- of the rotunda on it. I dont remeber seeing that! I only remeber seeing it light up in red white and blue with the start of the firewroks after the other contries light up.:shrug:

What gives?

Huh...Good question! I remember the American Adventure being the finale of the pavilion chase, so to speak and lighting up like you said, but I never remember seeing it actually change during the show.

I remember the other effects, like Germany's changing murals and Japan's Pagoda, but I never saw the AA "transform". Have seen several pics of it though...

Someone go get Martin.

You are right with the above. It lit up in the finale to Rhapsody in Blue. :)

What Steve said, though it isn`t as apparent on video. Look at the section after 12:29 in my vid - that`s it. I`m surprised they didn`t use this effect more - it was so good. Germanys really stood out well.

Agreed...Martin, do you know if these effects are still in place?;)

And YES to Germany! I remember that even now.:sohappy: The murals were my favorite part.:D

Most of the effects have been removed; the projectors are long gone. Some of the frames for the neon signs on rooftops are still in place - indeed, the nightly lightbars on the roof of France that pop up used to support the Moulin Rouge Windmill logo for the show.

Ah...Shame.:dazzle: The Pavilion Chase was always such a nice part of the show. It's one of the things that ROE lacks IMHO.:o

Yes, it was nice and too bad its not in RoE. However the music, pyro, and story of RoE are huge pluses. :) I still say its the best nighttime show Disney has ever created. :sohappy:

Agreed! The original score and the meaning the show holds is simply phenomenal... quite frankly, I'm surprised they created this show when they did.:o

Switch that word to nighttime and you're golden. The fireworks part is definitely not the best.

Fine! :p

Actually, I agree with you on that. Funny because its always the thing I emphasize to people; if you go in looking for lots of fireworks, you'll be disappointed. However, in terms of the collective effects and meaning, it can't be beat. :)

That's actually how I describe it to people I know who're going to WDW and ask me for advice. Wishes is the best *fireworks* show at WDW (and probably the best non-special-event fireworks the MK has ever had), but Reflections of Earth is the best *nighttime* show at WDW.
