I was wondering how they got the vehicles to dive under the rolling boulder. Is it a projection of some kind?

I don't remember any vehicles going under the boulder. Just Indiana, and he just jumps into a pit.

I say it's just track layout .. the vehicle moves forward just in the second the boulder would hit .. thats all

The boulder doesn't move. It sits still rolling in place on pins located on either side. The room moves forward (look backwards in the ride vehicle and you'll see it that way) to simulate the vehicle moving backward.

At the end of that sequence the vehicle moves forward on track that has a downhill section, they just fool with the motion base of the vehicle to make it seem more dramatic.

beanboon got it - remember this the EMV ride at Anaheim and Tokyo.

The EMV can`t reverse during a ride cycle. It is possible, but not with guests. The soloution was to have the entire scenes set move backwards instead.
