Ignored

This is my first post to the board, mainly because it has taken several months to register. After my initial try, around June, I never got the confirmation email. But I was acknowledged by username, and welcomed when I signed in. However, as soon as I signed in, I could not access ANY forum page, not even to just read the posts. If I logged out, I could. I tried to reregister, but was told that username/password was already taken. Finally today, I started over with a different name, email, etc.

Now I sent many emails to
forums@wdwmagic.com
webmaster@wdwmagic.com

I never ever got any reply, and, again, this has been months! I've thought of becoming a paying member, but......

So my 2 questions are:

Why were my emails never answered?
Why should I give my credit card # to anyone that ignores inquiries?

 NOBODY should be asking you for your credit card # !!!!

Subscribing to this site requires a credit card or check.

And, the big problem is, numerous emails weren't answered. Would you subscribe to anything if you couldn't be assured that there was someone to contact that would respond if there's a problem?

That´s very weird.... Did you check your junk mail after registering? Maybe the confirmation went straight there. :veryconfu

As for not being able to access the forums, that´s strange too if you were greeted when you logged in!
I don´t remember how I signed in to the forums though, but I don´t think I paid too much attention to the confirmation email... hehehe :animwink:

Hi there,

I attempt to answer as many emails as I possibly can. Unfortunately, I have a regular job as well, and running WDWMAGIC is hobby of mine, not a business. I cannot guarantee to answer emails, or guarantee to resolve users problems when attempting to join the forum.

If you did not receive your activation email when you first signed up, it is because your mail server rejected the email, or you entered an invalid email address. On a daily basis there are several users who's email address bounces their activation code, and there is no way I have the time or resources to follow each of those up.

A PayPal subscription to the site is fully controlled by you at all times. You have the capability to cancel the subscription at anytime from www.paypal.com, therefore there is no need to contact me in the majority of cases. I would certainly not want any of your credit card details, that is between you and PayPal.

While I do my best to help users and to keep the site and forum running, I am under no obligation to answer emails and provide any service guarantees. The website is provided as is, without warranty of any kind.

If you are looking for a level of service guarantee, or a contract of some kind, I suggest you find another website.

From the subscription page:

"What methods of payment are available?
Currently, only PayPal is supported. PayPal was chosen due to PayPal's large number of existing members, support for international accounts, and reduced risk to both members and WDWMAGIC. PayPal allows you to pay with a credit card or checking account. "

but the site itself doesn't accept credit cards... only Paypal. It doesn't matter how the money gets there.. as long as it gets there

So I'm a smartmouth for directly pasting something off the subscription page in my post? How do you figure that? I carefully composed my first post to avoid any rudeness or insults, I've carefully reviewed it and am convinced I succeeded.

I live in California, so I'm a lot more familiar with DL than WDW. I regularly read Miceage and Mouseplant. Both sites take donations on the honor system, something I've done. Anytime I've asked ?s on the board at MP, I make sure to try to answer ?s for others as a way of giving back.

So, my family is planning a trip to WDW in a couple of years, and I've been looking at WDW sites, and found this one. It looked good, the audio and video clips seemed interesting enough to consider paying for, and there's alot of info on this board.

Then I saw someone on these boards asking for info about DL, and I felt I could help them. I wanted to give back, so I registered in order to be able to post. After doing so I got this message for any and every link I clicked:

"You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules.
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

Now I guess I could have asked for help here on the boards....wait, no I couldn't, since I got the above message for EVERY link. (That BTW, is an example of smartmouth, as is this).

So the only thing I can do is send an email which I do. Then do again. To multiple addresses, from multiple addresses. Now I can't help but think that the average person would get a little irritated after a few months of this. After all, I just wanted to participate in a positive manner. Help when I can, get help when needed. I have no interest in typing arguments with anyone, insulting anyone that I disagree with, or jumping down someone's throat over puctuation, I was even willing to kick in a few dead presidents to help keep things going.

There was clearly a technical problem. The system recognizes my ID and PW, but in just now looking at the list of registered users, I notice that my original username was not on the list.

Now, understandably, I started feeling wary about subscribing. Some of the plans require a recurring automatic monthly payment. While I AM MOST DEFINITELY NOT SAYING SUCH IS THE CASE HERE, there are sites in cyberspace that make it very difficult to get out of situations like this. It seemed prudent to make sure I wouldn't be taking a risk; one does things like that after having the experience of finding a bill in the mailbox for a credit card in one's name that was opened by an unknown person who proceeded to buy $3,000 worth of computer equipment.

I also very well understand that the mod has to make sure his obligations are spelled out for legal reasons in his reply to me; but, after that, I thought there might be something like "Hey man, sorry it took so long, glad you got it sorted out, PayPal is safe, welcome to the community." Instead, I was basically told to get lost.

And, Disneylike? With all due respect, in DL "Disneylike" currently means cutting back more and more on safety and maintinence. I wonder what the family of Marcelo Torres thinks about the concept of Disneylike at this moment. But I digress.

I would like to thank Maria for a useful suggestion. I did register with my Yahoo account, and if it went into the junk mail box, I'd have never seen it.

I've also noticed that there's a "Forum Support" board which is probably where this should have been posted to begin with; my bad. Cheers.

You asked why you should give your credit card # to the webmaster:

"Why should I give my credit card # to anyone that ignores inquiries?"

PayPal does not run this site.

Welcome to the boards.

How did you finally get in if your e-mails were never answered?

As for this site, it's hands-down the best one out here, IMHO. Sorry you got off on the wrong foot. Keep giving it a try and you'll fit in. Hope you find WDW a great time when you go.

Thanks, Scott. It required using a different name and email address.

Just out of curiousity, I clicked the link in your signature; I've bookmarked that page now, should prove useful.

It looks like we were born in the same year and possibly in the same state. So I'll sign off saying Roll Tide. (If you're one of those that respond to War Eagle, well, you know where to click.)

Glad to share that link. In fact, I got it off of a Bama message board.

Unless you were born in Michigan, you were wrong. I'm a Yankee transplant into the south, but I've been here too long to EVER go back. What part of Bama you in?

Hey, ScrapIron!

Greetings from a fellow MousePadder. While there's some good WDW stuff over at MP, the sheer volume of information here is incredible. Dive in and enjoy!

The technical problem was that your email server bounced your activation email or you did not reply to the activation email that was sent to your email address.

When a user registers, they can login in to the site, and their username will be recognised. However, until the user actives the account following the instructions emailed on registration, they will be unable to see any forums or make any posts.

We've been in Huntsville for 13+ years; anything B-ham and north would be a great place to live in this state.
