If You Had to Pick a Date for the Opening . . .

Okay, say you had to pick an exact date just for fun, when would you say the FLE will open (everything but Seven Dwarfs) and what would you base that on? Would your opinions be influenced by:

  • The Christmas parade taping
  • Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (I'm thinking that wouldn't make for a practical opening day).
  • Christmas decorations going up
  • Crowds and the need to open during a quiet time to get their feet wet by the holiday rush
Finally, do you think that current delays will effect the projected "holiday" opening 2012, issues such as rain and problems with Storybook Circus?

Thanks

I'm not sure the exact date they'll open but it brings up an interesting question about the potential decorations in the area. If it opens post-Halloween/Autumn, when the park is making it's Christmas/Winter crossover decoration-wise, will they add any Christmas/Winter touches to FLE? Toontown used to get some Christmas/Winter decorations so will they do that still in it's new incarnation? And, if they open pre-Christmas/Winter decorations, will they do any Halloween decorations and THEN switch over?

They very well might pretty much open the area for the first time with seasonal touches depending on the date. Which might be interesting!

If things were to open w/o delay - I was projecting either Nov 17 (Sat) or Nov 19 (Mon) as the official opening date. The first date is when I believe the vals and mods shift to Thanksgiving pricing and I believe the 19th is when the deluxes switch to Thanksgiving pricing. From a marketing standpoint, I would think they'd want it up and ready to go for the Thanksgiving crowds and set before the parade taping.

The delays may push things back, but I get the feeling they probably want this opening for the masses at the peak times of the season. I keep wondering if they built in extended soft opening time into the plans so that they can curtail the soft opening period should they need a little more time to get it ready for the official opening. While I initially thought they'd be looking at a soft opening in early Nov, I started wondering if they'd prefer the Halloween crowds to really test things out. i.e. maybe something between Oct 15-20.

As for decorating...certain of the spots seem like they would be well suited for decorations. I have a feeling they probably have decorations in mind, but the noted delays may determine the level of decorating, if any, we see in FLE upon opening.

Of course...it's all wishful speculation. :D

I didn't even think about the shift in pricing. Interesting.

From what I've been told by managers in the MK area, little mermaid the ride is ready and runs everyday but there is no safe way yet to get to it and that theming is not done. The beauty and the beast part is almost done but the castle walls are not. My guess would be that it'll soft open the middle of October with full opening beginning of November.

I think this is a great question to debate. I think Disney will have to take a lot into account for the opening, they are going to want to do the soft opening during a slow time, so I am thinking a soft opening maybe November 1st with the officially open two weeks after. Just my guess though.

I wouldn't anticipate any of the delays mentioned to really come of anything, merely small speed bumps. If it were me I would guess that we might see a few days of test and adjust soft opening in late October (on dates where there are no Halloween Parties) with a full opening just after Halloween to give everyone a few weeks before the Thanksgiving Week rush.

Interesting... Though I think that might be a fake. They've been updating their maps as things were opening. They just put up the new dumbo and Casey area about a month ago. And that was a good couple weeks after the areas opened. I'm not sure that they would update the map, and include something that's not opening until 2014.
