As Hollywood teaches, ugly people are morally deficit. Beautiful people are righteous.
These villains 2.0 give us better villains than the cartoon ones. They are not ugly and repulsive. But hot and attractive. You want to pick their sides. They are not one-dimensional either. The best ones have a tormented soul aspect about them.

Hunchback Of Notre Dame broke that barrier for Disney & finally showed us that you can be "ugly" on the outside, yet still be the main hero of the film. Of course, your kind heart, brave soul, and loving spirit still will never get you out of the friendzone.
