If the Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm (September) are there still fireworks? It seems to me that 7 pm would not be dark enough for fireworks.

Two of the Fridays in September, specifically the 21st and 28th, are closing at 7pm to the general public for the MNSSHP. This special event has it's own fireworks display. I don't think that the regular Wishes fireworks will be displayed on the nights of the Halloween party.
I'll be there the 30th.

Yep, the 30th is a MNSSHP date. So, the MK will close to the general publck and 7pm and be open from 7-12 midnight to only those who purchased tickets for this party.
Buy tickets and come to the party, I hear it's a blast!
shucks... looks like i'll need something else to do from 7pm onwards.

You can always hop over to Epcot and catch Illuminations there at 9pm

Yes, we use EPCOT as 'filler' at night when the other parks close early.

...and stay for the EEMH until midnight.
I'll be at EPCOT the next day and all night for the fan gathering. Plus park hoppers cost more money and I'm gonna be down there for no more than 2 days so I don't plan on park hopping.

By the end of September it will be dark enough for fireworks at 7:00.
But it looks like you won't have them at MK except as part of MNSSHP.
