If Fantasmic! was axed as well...

Would you care if WDW axed Fantasmic! too?

I've only seen it twice and as great as I know majority of you think it is. I just didn't or don't care that much for it. Yeah the finale is cool but it's just not for me. I'd love to see something new come to studios or Hollywood adv or whatever it's to be called.

i will unfortuantley be forced to watch it live for the third time this year, newbies coming. I was really pumped to see it the first time and walked out very unimpressed. Gave it a second viewing wondering if maybe i missed something, but no it just didnt appeal to me. I wish it did to be honest as i love the fireworks shows and would really like to have something to look forward to in DHS, or whatever it will be, at the end of the night.

I wouldn't be sad to see it go, but I don't hate it. And my feeling is with the things that Disney is doing in the past 5 years or so, the devil you know might be better than the one you don't.

And I still don't fully support Avatar in AK, but they too needed to do something (should have kept the original fantasy creatures theme, that is always timeless and not trendy, or rather, a fading trend, like Avatar is). And now they'll also be getting a night show, which I'm interested in seeing.

I know we're getting off-topic now. But responding to the "mythical animals" section.. I have always personally believed that since Universal took The Lost Continent idea (Even Harry Potter's half-land takeover is still mythical technically), I believe they should have created a land themed to greek-creatures. I mean Uni has Poseidon's Fury... But Disney has Hercules. There are lots of cool and interesting looking animal-type creatures within that movie as well as others that weren't included within the movie. I don't think a theme park has created a land solely based on animals in greek culture yet.

Animals from Greek mythology would have been part of Beastly Kingdom.

With all of the attractions and shows and everything just coming up on the official and rumored chopping block.. Including things I personally would have never thought would leave (Muppets, Art of Animation), I have three questions for the members of these forums.

1). Do you think Disney will get rid of Fantasmic! as well?

2). If so, what do you suppose they will replace it with? Given the updates rumored to be happening.

I personally think that it's a 50/50 chance of this happening.. And if it does, I believe they'll create a Star Wars-themed night show of some sort. Given the way things are turning out anyways. Whether it's fireworks or a mixture of that AND a giant show of some sort. It's not something I would personally enjoy, as I am not a Star Wars fan by any means. I wouldn't get it. But I could see this happening.

3). What would you PERSONALLY replace it with?

I personally would really update the show! The animated water affects are good for a little while, but I believe it's used way too often. I would replace a good bit of the water-affect scenes with some scenes from new movies such as Princess & the Frog, Tangled, Frozen... (yea yea, hate me. But at least it would actually fit in here.) I'd probably replace the Pocahontas scene as well. Add some more villains from the newer movies to take part in the show.

I personally just believe it needs a massive update. It's a great show, great concept, amazing storyline.. Just needs to be tweaked now.

I sincerely doubt its going anywhere.

I can be wrong. But from all that I've researched, I've only seen things related to dragons and unicorns.. Planned attractions were Quest of the Unicorn, Fantasia Gardens, and Dragon's Tower..

I mean obviously they COULD have added greek-related attractions and such, but it seems to be only common fairy-tale related mythological creatures instead.

If it was solely based on greek legendary creatures..

I mean, c'mon... You can't tell me some pretty freaking awesome rides and themed-areas couldn't have been made based on these greek beasts..

I haven't been at DHS when they had Star Wars and Frozen fireworks. Are they any good? I have seen videos and liked the look of them. We went to Frantasmic once and that was good enough. What could be used in that location? That's a lot of real estate they could use. Perhaps another Star Wars area? Frozen castle? Indiana Jones?

Fantasia Gardens was based on The Pastoral Symphony segment. So more cute than the animals you show, but still based in the segment's Greek imagery.

Ah! Okay. Didn't know that. :)

So what I understand from the whole concept of beastly kingdom.. It was supposed to be divided into two (technically three with the big dragon coaster) sections.. The good bits of mythical creatures and the evil bits of mythical creatures.. So I still believe that an entire greek-mythology themed land would've been just about as affective as the original beastly kingdom concept!

Be surprised if it went. We have seen it at least 15x and at this point, I wouldn't be upset if it left. I would be upset if we got a lame replacement. though.

If it goes, it would probably be the last thing to be replaced in their big plans for DHS. That thing is a major people eater. And one of the few reasons to come back at night. It's a fun show, but it's way overdue for a replacement.

It's my favorite nighttime show! Unlike the other two fireworks shows, which are fantastic, they still don't quite feel right as "day-enders" to me. That may be because there's still so much to do in Epcot and Magic Kingdom even if you're there all day, though!

I'd miss it horribly if it went, but if they replaced it with something that still included the main reasons I'm so defiant it doesn't go (namely, the fact that Mulan, Hercules, HoND, and Pocahontas even show up in an actual attraction in the parks) I'd be placated.

1) and 2) It's certainly possible if they're willing to figure out what they could fit in the Amphitheater that makes sense. But I can't think of anything so no. With the hat out of the way, if they replace it, I think most obviously it'll probably be with fireworks. Star Wars would be a good fit, but fireworks based off of Disney live action movies in general could be something I see them actually doing too.

3) Honestly I'd prefer they update. Switch up the scenes some, add a coherent "plot" back in (that's one of my mother's major complaints), and perhaps rely less on the water-screens (though I personally love them). The basic idea of Mickey dreaming about stuff and that segueing into a tribute to animated Disney films is great. Don't touch the little section with all the bubbles outside of adding onto it though, please!

If they must replace it, I feel like they should still make use of the amphitheater somehow. Whether it's in a daytime show or in a new nighttime show, seems like a waste to just have it sit there.
