If child is lost

We are going down in May and I'm trying to prepare my 4 year old on what to do if we get separated. So first question is what is WDW protocol for if a child is lost? What do they do? We are trying to teach him what a CM is and to go to them. I know they don't do announcements so what do they do?
Second do you think I should get him an ID type tag? When I was little my parents got us Dog tags with our info on it. That is what we will probably do for DS. DD will only be 13 1/2 months.

Cedar Fair parks have a program called "Kid Track". You can register when you arrive.. no idea if WDW has something similar.

At 4 just make sure he knows your phone number.. that should be good enough.. but if you worry about him forgetting maybe write it on his shirt tag or have him wear something like this with contact info inside -

The thread is 9 years old. Since the kid is now 13, I doubt it's an issue any more.

At 4 yrs old your child should be holding a parents hand - permanently. There are too many lost parents reported in The World - don't become another one :animwink:
My godson will be 8 by time we go to WDW, so I do tend to give him some free space, but within a given boundary that's established before we leave the house (either his or mine). Because WDW is SO large, it's his first time and he has a tendency to sprint while excited (ie- seeing a Star Wars character), I would just feel better having something on his physical person that can identify that we are together. Definitely not trying to lose someone else's kid lol
