Ideas to revitalize DLP

From the information I have gotten, increasing attendance shouldn't be hard at all. First of all, it sounds like there would be a lot of engllish speaking visitors if the narrations weren't all in french. So, for lengthy narrations such as in haunted mansion, where the audio is built into the ride vehicle anyway, create an option in the car itself where the narration can either be in french or english by a push of a button. Also, the locals don't seem big on dark rides or the story telling aspect, so give em what they want. I'm not saying build a bunch of coasters, but consentrate on building thrill rides and possibly renovating or replacing the slower rides with thrill rides. You could easily do a thrill ride version of the haunted mansion, and what about all of the thrill ride ideas in the works or on the shelf. Of course, the cost might be high, but should be a healthy investment and a better alternative other than tearing the thing down. Any thoughts are welcome. If I'm an idiot let me know.

Money. Lots of it. Nothing major will get built until the debt mountain is sorted out. The end of May should be quite interesting!

I honestly don't think the language is a problem. For attractions that need you to understand they have translations, but for rides like Phantom Manor, you really don't need to understand any language (but Grim Grinning Ghosts is still in English ;))

I disagree with your thrill ride ideas or with the way the French look at it. Over at DLP dark rides are packed and so is Storybookland! Over at DLC it's the exact oppisite!

I would think that the translation headsets that are starting to show up in WDW would do the job. Alot cheaper then refitting the cars.
I have not been to DLP for over 5 years but I'm surprised about the comment made about not liking dark rides. Especially what I've read on other DLP forums.
I agree with Marni. They need to get out of debt first. Get the books under control.
After that I think that they should concentrate on Disneyland. Get some new Etickets built to get people back. The Studios can wait. It would take alot more then a few etickets to fix it up. I believe the money would be better spent on the main park.
IMHO.

I would say DLP needs one more E and one more D ticket, but the studios need at least two E's and various D, C and B tickets.

I think DLP could actually hold its own for a good few years yet, whereas the Studios will probably struggle, so the investment should go there.... once they get out of debt.

I've never been there and don't know much about it, so I was basically making blind comments on the minimal info I had which apperently was not very reliable. From what I know, beauty and the beast and little mermaid dark rides were supposed to be built and weren't not only because of money, but because dark rides weren't popular there. And also, i thought that the studios was the main reason the resort was in the red in the first place, so it would make sense to throw money at it first. And is it true a third gate is supposed to be built by 2010 due to an agreement with the local goverentment which allowed them to purchase the land in the first place.

This is where I got the information on the B&B and Lil' Mermaid dark rides.

To be honest I don't remember, I'd have to go back and try to find it, but I know I read it somewhere. Maybe try an ask jeeves search. I always find all sorts of crazy stuff when I do that.
