I am a big fan of Monsters, INC. It is definitely one of my fav Disney movies. I think that Disney could really come up with a great ride based on this movie, especially using the last scene in the movie. I don't know where it could go, but I think this ride would be best in MGM.

Does anyone have any good ideas for this kind of ride?

Maybe something where we ride the doors?

I think a Monster's Inc. ride is a very good idea. THere are so many possiblilities for that ride especially using doors....

No more roller coasters.

It should be a dark ride full of animatronics--an updated Peter Pan's Flight. Of course, your ride vehicle is a door.

I like the door idea too I've accually thought about a ride in that big room but what I can't figure out is how in the world you ride in a door because well....their kinda flat

what about if the ride vehicle was a six-sided "cube" which was made out of "doors" and then as you ride by the scenes, the door that is on the side of the scene opens up and you see the scenes....the door on the top, you could look up at a scene, and then even the floor could open up, and you could be hanging, looking down at a scene

One could definitely come up with a lot of ride variations with a Monsters, Inc attraction. Especially with the doors as a theme. And the preshow area could also be very entertaining.

Here is my idea. The guest rides in Mike's car. Through the street and into the factory where the scream is harnassed as energy. Then you can go a few different ways on the ride.

The Movie Way: Inside the factory, you drive by when Randall attempts to steal the child. As you escape to the apartment, the radio in the car says there is a manhunt for the kid. As the car pulls into the apartment there are helicopter noises, and spotlights searching the room with Sully and Mike trying to hide in Sully's closet. As the car drives into Sully's closet you come out the other end where all the doors are kept. There Randall comes after you, swerving through a few punny doors, there is Randall about to take the kid. The ride drops under Randall into Boo's flower door. She is now safe as you drive by Roz shredding the door, and Randall being aprehended. As the car makes toward the loading station, Mike opens Boo's door and as the car drives through to the loading area, you hear Boo's voice say "kitty".
The Fast Way: The ride speeds up here, not too fast, but faster than Snow White. So the car drives home and the radio says the kid is on the loose. You pull into Sully's apartment and there is the kid. All of a sudden the room begins to shake, and there are searchlights and helicopters in the window. The car pulls into Sully's room with Boo in her monster outfit. The car pulls into Sully's closet and you are driving into the MI entrance. But then things get bad, you are discovered. The car races down the hall and into a door while RAndall following. As the car comes out there are all the doors. Boo's passes by and the car quickly follows. And the same ending from going through the punny doors goes on.

Maybe you could be a special Door maintenance Vehicle and it goes crazy and you travel through the various rooms. OF course it should be 3-D like SPiderman but have you suspended instead of on a normal track.

I think it would be great if it was some kind of VR ride like the end of TT but about twelve sat together on a kind of simulator arm. Everyone would have a screen over their eyes and the mechanical arm would simulate the movement.

Monsters Inc Ride

Imagine: There was a power outage at Disney World and Monsters Inc. Offered Disney the use of their Power Plant. Remember that Monsters inc creates energy over scares and laghter. A Dark Ride like AE. Have a special preview of newer ways to create energy without using the original ones, but it goes bad. So people will be in the dark. (sound sensors here) as soon as someone screams or laght light will blink. Sully will say that everithing is ok (you can here him talking to Mike) Now there is Randal since he can be "Invisible" you may feel him and either get scare or laght, remember that light will blink and you may see other monsters or doors around. And that can be the preshow. Now the factory tour.Let me write it first so we can enjoy it. Most of the ride system can be copied from the Great Movie Ride.

Well, it looks like someone beat us to it. They came up with an idea for a dark ride (no coasters, yes doors). It's at:

That's quite impressive...

Mainly, however I'm interested in the contest he is entering.

I'm only a freshman right now, but it is definitley a contest I'd be interested in partcipating in a couple of years.

Anybody else thinking about entering the imaginations contest? If enough interest is garnered we could form a wdwmagic.com team.

We'll see. I'm going to explore into the contest into more depth.

I would love to enter, but you need to be a Junior or Senior in College. I've still got at least a year and a half to go.

However, it is never too early to start planning. I have so many ideas for an Weather Pavillion in EPCOT. :)

I also have an Idea for a Monsters Inc. Ride. It would be a flume ( don't know why, just felt like it ). It would be called Monsters Inc.: Monster Training. The story behind the attraction is that you, the rider, are training to become fully trained Monsters. I'm buiding a Model of the Facade. i'll post a pic when I'm done ( I'm really into building models now ).
