Iconic Purple Directional Signs Being Replaced

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Find it very interesting that they needed this to be digital, wonder what else they’re going to do with it
There are many things they can do with this... Especially if there is, say, a specifically big event going that can point folks in the right direction.
  • Temporary Events
  • Future additions (Resorts, park, whatever, ect.)
  • Re-Routes to avoid high traffic peak times in certain locations/construction zones
  • Indicating a park is closed off to guests due to capacity
  • Indicating a water park is closed

These can actually be very useful if used for these things...

They can also put up weird passive aggressive messages about Ron DeSantis on demand.

Take for example:

EPCOT NEXT RIGHT
Ron, that suit just isn't your style.

Or: MK: 40 minute wait for Dole Whips
EP: Figment popcorn buckets sold out
AK: Dinosaur-no lights or AA’s working…
HWD: SW Galactic Starcruiser now 80% off…vacancy NOW…
You know, useful information…

Per their agreement with the new board, Disney. I’m sure they always managed these on a day to day basis anyway though
I think day to day management of all CFTOD f/k/a RCID utilities including "water, natural gas, roadway maintenance, waste and recycling, sewage and wastewater treatment" has been subcontracted to Reedy Creek Energy Services. Which is Disney.

So the board can't even control that.

Since they're digital, I wonder if they would change the colors if enough people complained.
Funny enough the one that first turned on over Epcot world drive started with the new color scheme of blue and white. But is now is displaying its directions in the more wdw traditional red and purple. Just that one though. The others are still blue and white.

Two new digital signs have been installed on World Drive - one heading North and one heading South.

What is going on with the switch to the blue and yellow signage? Has there been any movement on the switch on CFTOD owned roads other than the digital signage since CFTOD took over Reedy Creek?

Some of the old signs are so faded you can’t even read them. I believe road signs are the responsibility of Reedy Creek Energy Services (Disney subsidiary) if I’m not mistaken.

Agree with this, just back and some of the signs are unreadable. Looks like what Disney would have previously called Bad Show.

I did a little quick dig on RCES
Reedy Creek Energy Services was created 06-30-71
09-28-99 RCES was merged into Walt Disney World Co.
09-29-05 RCES pops back up, now as a fictitious name owned by Disney Photo Imaging, LLC
Disney Photo Imaging, LLC appears to be just a holding company with a bunch of personnel from Glendale, Burbank, as well as multiple people around WDW. it was created 10-20-04. It has an authorized member company of The Celebration Company. Which itself is another holding company owned by Disney. At least after 2004 it seems to be a holding company as multiple other old Disney companies were merged into it around 2004 and even current times it hold multiple parcels of land around WDW/Celebration owned by Disney.

Interesting. Around property there are still a lot of buildings with the RCES branding on it. RCES also operates the waste collection and transfer around property though those trucks are branded as the RCID even though they are not owned/operated by the District. The Celebration Company still owns most of the land surrounding Celebration and apparently also enforces the style guide for the town still. Interestingly a new sign appeared in Celebration recently about the area using reclaimed water attached to a WDW style post instead on the Celebration green style post.
