Ice cubes

drinking water and ice cubes are very safe in the united states, especially at disney. the only thing is it make take your body a day or two to adjust to the different minerals and stuff that is added that may be different from your home country. but if the water does not taste good to you, i would suggest buying a few water bottles and keeping them in the room, or getting a purifier that you can use. Or if you want, get the flavored water packets and use those. i hope this helps!

I would have to think that if they did make there own ice(I have to remember to get the recipe next time I go) that the ice makers would have a filter on the water intake line. All the big commercial grade ice makers I have ever seen always had them.

I once saw a study that said there was more fecal matter in McDonald's ice cubes than in their toilets. So if your eating ice cubes from storage bins... Yikes!

In answer to Tam's original question...

I'm fairly sure the ice machines use the local treated water supply and have filters on the machine itself. How often the filters are changed/cleaned would be the biggest issue for your tummy and I don't know the answer.

After 16 years in the Navy, my tummy has no concept of being upset by anything that is publicly consumable...

I have wondered about this too. Every single trip I have to Florida I get an upset tum. I don't eat or drink excessively so I figure it must be the water although I always have bottled water to drink. Just leaves teeth cleaning and ice. I got through a whole packet of Immodium this year  soz, TMI!

Do you drink coke or other soft drinks at all while there? I know quite a few people who get upset stomachs when they visit the states from the high fructose corn syrup in the soda.

Yes, I do drink diet coke, maybe a couple a day. I didn't know that it was so different, it is a possibility. I certainly prefer 'our' coke!
