Might already be known, but this was in a Disney newsletter March 05:

"[font=arial, helvetica, verdana]Magic Kingdom Guests also are stepping into a piece of restored Disney history with the recently refurbished "it's a small world" attraction. A grand new entrance inspired by the ornate clock-tower façade of the original attraction at Disneyland® Park and a return to the original soundtrack used at its California counterpart are among the changes Walt Disney Imagineers made during the refurbishment project. While the giant clock that marks Guests' arrival is the most visible enhancement, fully restored scenes throughout the attraction are designed to return "it's a small world" to its original opening-day brilliance."

sounds cool, original song from California? I don't remember a difference...

Yea, I cant wait to see it. I dont really think there was a major differance in sounds, but I could be wrong. They should have made the audio better as to where it doesnt sound like the dolls are singing wa wa wa wa wa, its a wa of wa fter, etc.

Speaking of IASW, I had a dream about it a couple of night ago. More like a nightmare. One major thing I remember about it that made it a nightmare was at the end of the first scene, we went into a enormouse dools mouth. That creeped me out.

Can anyone confirm the rumor about the possibility of a new scene and any clarification as to what that scene would be.

Diddnt I see that this song was written to be a slow flowing ballad... I wonder if the song, in that form, has ever been used? ... like maybe in the line or the exit areas... Is it still sponsered by Mattel?

Can't wait to see the new and improved ride. I happen to really like this ride. On a side note, we saw them working on the Small World 'kids' while on the Behind the Magic tour. They are really scary without cloths on.

Yeah, I saw a special on WDW about a year ago where they talked to the composer of the song. He said that it was meant to be a more somber ballad. He sang a few bars in the style that it was originally intended and it totally changed its meaning for me. Not just some lighthearted dity, but a very moving anthem.
Anyway, I can't wait to see all of the improvements. I've always believed that what Disney does better than anyone is make you lose yourself in the atmosphere of everything around you with their great attention to detail. Kind of hard on the ride before the refurb when you could see holes punched in the false ceiling and water stains on most of the walls.

Yep, originally the Sherman Brothers wrote the song to a much slower tempo. However, initially the ride was designed to play the national anthems from the countries the dolls represented. THAT was a mess. :)

me too.. its been years since ive been on IASW... probably the mid 90's ... this will be a must do for my spring break trip... for some reason the things that stick out in my mind the most are flying carpets anda hippo... oh and the very last scene where you see the Mattel logo an all the goodbyes in different languages... hmm.. now wouldnt this have worked well at Epcot?...were those Gigantic big headed walk around character dolls (when epcot first opened) suppose to be like Small World dolls?...or am I just thinking that?

Dang, that new paint scheme is lights years better. Here's hoping the rest of the ride lives up to the promise and anticipation that this rehab is getting, which shoud then bode well for the future 'classic' attraction rehabs.

I personally would rather have MK sink their budgeted $$$ into the rehabs right now than an expensive NEW E-ticket (if thats all the $$$ they have)
