Trip Report I Vowed Never Again ~ Yet Here We Are! *COMPLETED*

Wait, what?

WDW-obsessed Tuvalu actually vowed never again ?!?!

Must. Read. More.

Clickbait! :joyfull:

But there is truth in my statement. I did vow not to visit the world whenever our spring break...always the first week in April....aligns with Easter. The first week of April typically brings heavy crowds since most southern school systems are out. I can handle heavy. But add in additional volume from schools that coordinate their break with Easter and “heavy” becomes INSANE. (Not quite the insanity of Christmas week....I am smart enough to avoid that, thanks to a one-day trip in 1994.)

But I’ve BEEN THERE ~
In 2009 (during the recession) when it took 40 minutes just to get through the Epcot parking booth....and the line for the boat ride in Mexico was out the front door of the pavilion....and Magic Kingdom was closed due to capacity.

In 2010 when the mid-morning standby wait for Test Track was 240 minutes (that’s 4 hours, people!) and the wait time for Nemo (Nemo!) was 150 minutes.

In 2015 when we watched the 6:45 am MK Welcome show in the dark because we wanted to ride a few attractions before the hordes descended.

Long lines to use the restrooms (always filthy because attendants couldn’t keep up); no available tables in quick-service locations, forcing guests to sit on the ground outside the restaurants; and a general atmosphere of cranky/angry guests who didn’t like dealing with the multitude any more than I did.

So I declared, DONE THAT!

Or so I thought.....

My darling daughter Em lives for spring break. As a student she vacationed (Disney or beach) every year but one ~ and there was nearly a mutiny! Now that she’s a teacher, going away for spring break has reached an even higher level of importance. 😉 With this year’s Easter/spring break overlap, we began researching other warm-weather destinations.

Guess what we discovered. Transportation, resort and dining costs were cheaper if we went to WDW! And having APs means our entertainment would be free. Em’s teacher budget would not be strained. The practical side of me could not argue....and the mom side of me could not disappoint my daughter.

We leave on Monday. We’re prepared. And we’re gonna be LIVE!

A few Magic meet-ups are in the works. Hope to keep them a surprise (as long as @Zipitidoda doesn’t spill the beans! :cautious:)

Despite declining MagicBands for our upcoming stay, these arrived in yesterday’s mail ~

I'm so jealous of all the amazing meet ups!! That being said, I don't think I would be brave enough to shout to someone if I saw them in the parks. I did meet @figmentfan423 VERY briefly at the Poly in 2016. We were in the parks at the same time and scheduled a meet up before our ADR, but it was only a few minutes to say "hi, nice to meet you". I swear you've met half of the members on this forum!!

I am guilty of the exact same thing. I wanted to “complete” my collection!!
Et Tu, @riverside? :joyfull:

Wowza, I thought the crowds were bad last week! Those MK crowds today were next level crazy.
What was amazing was how fast it reached the crazy level....only about a couple hours after opening. But we knew it was likely to happen.

All of us, all day refreshing for updates :hilarious: Between you and @lostpro9het today, my kids got very little attention :joyfull:
Careful....someone may call DFCS on you! (U.S. organization, I’m sure there is something similar in Canada. 😉)

Meet ups are such a fun addition to a Disney vacation!

Oh my, those photos from the Yacht & Beach Club bakery--wow! What gorgeous creations!!

So happy you had a meet up with @Tony the Tigger and Brian. I've always enjoy Tony's TRs, and was glad that you all could get together for a fun visit.
Seeing those eggs is a definite “reward” so to speak for enduring Easter crowds.

We JUST missed the bus to Epcot.

The plan was to RD Soarin’.

I summoned Uber.

Completely forgot we’d have the long line at the tollbooth to deal with.

We’re not gonna make it.

On an unrelated note, not sure what this is about ~

Who doesn’t like the smell of money? That or your uber driver was at Blizzard Beach yesterday and he needs to dry out his cash.

That's a not very subtle way of indicating the driver prefers their tips in cash. When I see that in an Uber or cab, I usually send a not so subtle message by not giving them a tip. ;)

Wonder the story behind this....

Still catching up so this may have been answered, but they're streaming the video to the Disney Store locations throughout the country. I think the idea was that if you want to get your "fix" you can go to the Disney Store. They have a small calendar of events at our store when we drop by, but they're normally just showing movies.

Random tibits ~

There’s something adorable about a woman in a burka wearing Minnie ears.

An exasperated woman walked up to a CM and asked, “Where’s the Matterhorn?” :hilarious:

The restrooms in Tomorrowland are NASTY. And the park has only been open a couple hours.
I've never had a "clean" experience in the tomorrowland restrooms. Hopefully when tron comes they revamp for additional traffic.

When we were there in December we rope dropped Tomorrowland.... at 7:15 am Christmas morning, the Tomorrowland bathrooms were not dirty, but they certainly didn't feel as clean as the rest of the parks and resorts. They felt.... picked up... but not washed down, if that makes sense. It stood out to us because we had been in awe of how clean even the trash cans are, LOL.
