more excited for this DL trip than I was for my last WDW trip. I admit, my last WDW trip turned me off to going back for awhile. We decided to check into DL and I am ready to leave.....like NOW.

Beautiful weather, sooooo much to see and do? We're able to make this DL a good $2,000 cheaper than WDW. That's not even including our $2,000 flights to MCO :D

So, prepare to see a lot of me these next 7 1/2 months! I'll be scouring these forums day and night....HAHA

Is there a trip report? I'd like to compare notes and see if we feel the same way about stuff. I will admit though, my wife is warming back up to Disney just a tad, but not enough to go back to WDW this year, or maybe next.

There is! When Im not mobile, I'll link it :)

Went with my inlaws and they made it MISERABLE. And as we've considered going back...we have such a hard time justifying the cost to ourselves for 4 parks when we're only enjoying 2 of them. The cost just doesn't seem worth what we're getting.

We're able to do DL, Universal, Knotts Berry Farm (mostly to eat...lol) and the beach...for less than a trip to WDW! SO much better value IMO, you know?

I hope you enjoy your trip, Britt! I'm trying to get to WDW next year, and I have to save and pinch every penny I have. I know what you're going through.

I'm glad you're able to find other activities to do. I know you're planning on going during Halloween. Are your kids going to be scared of Horror Nights and Knott's Scary Farm?

This goes for @draybook as well... My brother can get discounts on Universal tickets, so feel free to send me an email if you're ever interested.

We priced out a trip and the absolute cheapest we could get was $3894! And that wasn't including our $1989 flight costs! We priced out a trip to DL and it was $2634 for tickets, hotel, flights, and Uni! I was SOLD! LOL

I will definitely contact you when it comes to purchasing time! That would be so awesome! Any way to save money is super appreciated!

Im not sure what their dates for their Halloween parties are, but it'd be awesome if it's going while we're there. My boys aren't scared of anything fake. Their only fear is the hard core wind we've been having and only because they're obsessed with tornadoes...HAHA

$2634 for how many people? That's a pretty awesome price! I've got our trip down to about 3500, which includes rental car(yeah we are driving out), hotel, tickets, food, gas and other expenditures.

For 5 people!
We did flights through momondo.com
And we're staying the Motel 6 across the street (just looking for a clean place to sleep...not worried about amenities or anything...LOL)

Our $2634 doesn't include rental car though! We need to check into that...I think because of how long we're staying, we'll have to pay for 2 weeks, so I'm trying to figure out if we can rent the car for 1 week and then pay the 2 days separately! :D

I'm assuming your kids are considered children by pricing standards? That's still a heck of a price. The rental car will charge you a week rate and then for the two loose days. I would highly recommend using Name Your Own Price from Priceline. I use it and I love it! I already have a mini-SUV booked for our drive out there and for a 10 day rental it's only $367. That's pretty darn good for an SUV, and that's considering I haven't even used NYOP on it. I don't use NYOP until like a week before, because with NYOP you have to pay in advance and if your offer is accepted then it charges you on the spot. You then find out which agency you get the rental from. I love it because here at Memphis International, they pretty much let you pick whatever car you want out of that category.

They are :) Plus, we're getting our tickets from Way.com which is saving us some money!! Definitely check them out if you haven't already bought tickets or dont get a discount at other places!

Way.com - $1021 (2 adults, 3 kids)
Disneyland.com $1077 (2 adults, 3 kids)

Or if you know of an even better deal, definitely give me a heads up! haha

Have you priced your flights directly through http://www.southwest.com/? I tried the site you used and the best price for 4 of us(all adults by pricing) was $1,472. Directly through Southwest it was $1,386. Not a huge saving, but every dollar helps!

Aww, I can't check! It doesn't go out that far with Southwest! It could be dependent on your location and how soon you guys are going!

Sheesh, that's cheap. How in the world did you manage that? That's crazy!

I just remembered, you'll be catching Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

Perhaps. Our dates are from July 30th until August 6th. That was if we were going to fly, which we aren't. Where are you flying out of, maybe I can look?

Wow. Wish I could swing prices like that when I travel. :/ I flew in from Denver to Burbank this past Christmas. It was a short flight (two hours, if I recall correctly), so hopefully yours will be, too.:)
