Trip Report I Think I Can Sing "Jessie's Girl" Backwards

Over the years we've(E, J & myself) have done quite a few last minute trips to Disney. Not really out of the ordinary for us, esp. years ago before J was in school. It was pretty easy to just pick up & go with not much notice. Now, in present times it's not so easy, esp. when we were going to have already been there less than 2 weeks prior to this trip(J's birthday trip).

So, I might as well get the big disappointment out of the way now. J was not with us on this trip.
You have JSR to thank for that. He had already missed 2 days of school a few weeks prior for his birthday trip & dad didn't want him to miss another day for this one.👎 And, even though this was a super short(48 hours) trip he was missed tremendously!!

Here's who you will see
IMG_5182.JPEG

I'm pretty sure you know everyone but just in case--our niece-H, our friend-S, the person that wanted to go on this trip more than any of us-R, E & myself.

And, the star of this TR(hey, someone had to try to take J's place!!)

2 weeks before the birthday trip R told me that Rick Springfield was going to be playing at Flower & Garden. I knew that & I also knew(b/c he's played there for years) that one day I would end up having to go there to see him. Now, before you get the wrong idea, I'm not the Rick Springfield fan, R is!! I do like his music, he does put on a great show & contrary to what most people believe he does have a lot more hits than just "Jessie's Girl" & "Don't Talk to Strangers". However, R is the big fan-not me. I ended up liking his music b/c of R. Would I fly to Disney for 2 nights to see him perform after I had just been there 2 weeks prior? Absolutely not!! But, when R offered to pay for the room & my flight I totally changed my mind!!

We booked a Lion King Suite at AoA. I told him we had to call E to see if she & J wanted to come. As I said earlier J couldn't but E was on board. I talked to H and told her we still had room so she decided to come also. E mentioned it to S & he decided to come too!! Big mistake though-he booked a Lion King Suite also. All that room for one person!! We should have thought to tell him to get a Little Mermaid room.

We originally were going to fly down Sunday late afternoon after I got done working. We were to return Tuesday morning b/c I had to work the late shift that day. Then we decided b/c it was such a short trip that we would take the 5:00am flight on Sunday-let me tell you, I'm getting way too old for that(says the girl who's doing it again in October). I asked my boss for Sunday off & we were good to go.

You know what that meant--an extra night of Rick Springfield shows!!😧

After getting up at the ungodly hour of 1:30(is that even healthy?) here we were at 8:00am!!

And by 8:30 we were here!!

Funny how we can't make it to a park this early when we're already on property yet we can flying from Pittsburgh!!

We were all starving b/c nothing was open in the Pittsburgh airport before we took off so we made a reservation here on our way to AK.

My breakfast. It was good but the service was so slow!! We were all getting aggravated!!

R's breakfast.

H, S & I rode EE while E & R sat by "what once was Rivers of Light" and had some Safari Ambers.

Then we decided to catch FotLK. I love this show!!

Then it was time to head out!! It was a quick but fun visit to AK!!

Great report title! 😆I searched all the GIFs and couldn’t find any of Dr. Noah Drake from General Hospital or from the song, “Don’t Talk to Strangers”. 😞

I threaten my husband that if we every attend a Taylor Dane show during F&G I’ll be waving my cassette tape in the air!

Thankful for your niece and everyone in the nursing profession!

Thanks for another great report!

When H had told some of her fellow nurses(the older ones) that she saw Rick Springfield they got all excited & couldn't believe that she knew who he was!! In reality, the only song she knew was "Jessie's Girl"!!

The crew bowed out after that show. R & I got back in line for Round 5!!

And last but not least, Round 6!!

Wow, that's a really bad photo!!

After that we headed back to AoA. We had a 9:30 flight the next morning so we were being picked up at 7:00.
On the way back R asked me my overall thoughts. That's when I told him, "At this point, I think I can sing Jessie's Girl backwards!!"

Thank you all for following along on this adventure!!
I think it's only appropriate that I leave you with this....Enjoy!!:)

I'm not going to go into detail but the gentleman sitting across from us with his parents had a medical emergency. Long story short, he has brain tumors but has been good for quite a number of years, as we found out. Unfortunately, he started taking a seizure at dinner. H, my niece, jumped into action(she's a nurse) & handled the situation so professionally. The paramedics had to take him out in an ambulance. She was so amazing & absolutely knew the right thing to do!! I'm so proud of her!! Disney was thankful & comped her meal(including an extra adult beverage!!).

So many guests were telling her how awesome she was & what a "rockstar" she is for doing what she did!! Being her aunt I obviously know her & I can tell you that I'm not surprised. She's an amazing woman & I couldn't be more proud of her!!
Here's our desserts!!

So sorry for my late responses. We had a horrible wind storm come through our area on April 29th. It literally lasted all of 2 minutes but left behind damage that was like nothing I've ever seen. We didn't have power for a week. There were about 10 GIANT trees that came down on our property & we had roof damage. Not fun at all!!
Anyhow, I just realized that I totally forgot to respond here!! My apologies!!

We're heading to Disney on Saturday!! I look forward to taking you along with me!!

Cassette tape--that's hysterical!!
I totally agree-they are special people!!
I apologize in advance in case you already mentioned it but did the set lists ever change or was it the same songs every show?
He ended every show with "Jessie's Girl". "Don't Talk to Strangers" was in every show but 1. Other than that he did mix it up a bit but with those songs I'd say he played them probably in 3 or 4 shows. Each show had 5 or 6 songs in them.
Oh man, it's over already!!! Thanks so much for taking us on a Springfield adventure!
Thanks for following along!!
Wow. R may actually be the worlds biggest Springfield fan. That’s true dedication! 🤣
Right??🤣
You are a wonderful wife.... That's all I can say 😆
Thanks!! But, in all fairness I did get a free trip out of this!!;)

The storm was crazy, insane! I was driving home in it. I had to turn around 4 times because of down trees and power lines. I had to drive on the wrong side of the road at times and tree branches were flying all over. I felt like I was driving in a video game!

I can't wait to read your live TR starting Saturday. Please leave the humidity down there upon return 🤣

I, also, think you should have R start napping now😀

I’m just going to say the “Working Class Dog” album is perfection from beginning to end!

My mom used to play the (gasp!) 8-track in her car. I remember when I got my first car, it was played over and over on cassette.

Rick is awesome - also known to have addict tendencies (substance, sex, etc.)

Beyond the Jessie’s Girl era: “My Father’s Chair” is about when his Dad died - gets me every time. “Rock Of Life” when you’re going through a rough patch.

Anyhoo - loved the TR - since I’ve met you, I read all of it in “Patti voice” 😆

As for Biergarten: I went once in the late 90’s, and that was it. I thought they should rename it “Sauerkraut Buffet.” But it was NYE and nothing else was available! #neveragain 🤣
