I think I actually like the JIYI original redo better than this new version

The reason I say this is two-fold

1) the new ride with Figment is painful since it's not any good and I'd rather not have Figment bastardized in there

2) at least the redo (which I was upset they even bothered with in the first place) at least had some techno pizzaz to it. This current version is waaay boring and totally ordinary, not even state of the art by a long shot

I'm not holidng my breathe on another redo any time soon though. I'd just to like to see whats planned for Epcot after Mission Space.

I think a ride, even if its small or a clone, in World Showcase would really help out.

HEY! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE SUPPORTING THAT NOW-DEFUNCT PIECE OF "GARBAJ" CALLED "JOURNEY INTO YOUR IMAGINATION"!

THE NEWEST VERSION IS FAAAAAAAAAR SUPERIOR TO THAT PREVIOUS VERSION!

THE NEWEST VERSION HAS SO MUCH MORE IMAGINATION IN IT THAN THE PREVIOUS VERSION!

THE NEWEST VERSION IS TECHNOLOGICALLY-ADVANCED!

THE NEW "JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION WITH FIGMENT" IS NOT BORING--IT'S WONDERFUL AND IT DOES HAVE PIZZAZ. PLEASE ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT IS!

Also, I still think that the new Figment ride brought some whimsy back into Epcot.

I really wish I could share you enthusiam, but I went on it for the 2nd time today and it did nothing for me.

To me, if was if they said, "you want Figment, here he is, but while we are at it, let's make it totally boring and put no money into it"

The barely use the AA Figments until the end where you see a bunch of them for like 2 seconds

Granted all the original one needed was a techno upgrade in a few areas (snow scene comes to mind).

I know the original "redo" wasn't that good, but at least it didn't try to BE the original ride. This one trys to and fails miserably. It's almsot painful to even hear "One Little Spark".

I mean come on, when you stop at the sight lab and then the smell lab, you call that entertainment? I think it makes Disney look bad.

I just watched the original ride on video for the first time since I've been on both redo's.

Not to stick up for the 1st redo, which was NOT a Figment ride, but on this 2nd redo attempt why were more attempts not make to use more of the set pieces from the original attraction?

Granted Disney tried to actually SELL the DreamFinder mobile on Ebay and then pulled it off the auction block, but did they get ride of everything else?

I know budget constraints tied their hands when it came down to redesigning the actual track, BUT if the budget for the 1st redo was smaller than the original atttraction and this new budget was even smaller than that, how much could it have cost to just replace all the old attraction pieces?

Would it be MORE expensive to replace the original ride as it was than to redo it with new items in it? (I guess it would looking at the quality of this go around)

You don't have the cost in manufacturing new items, characters, props, etc or making video screens and fart smelling machines.

It is my belief that you, and many others on these boards, will never be happy with anything Disney does. With the Imagination pavilion, you complain about the new redo, you complained about the original redo, and if they were to change it back to the orignial version, you'd complain that they didn't spruce it up a bit, and if they did spruce it up, you'd complain that it's not purely original, and if they hadn't changed the original, you'd be complaining it needed to be fixed up..... and so it goes...

I for one want a jolly good time when I go to the parks. Fun rides, clean park, friendly staff, thank you every much Mr. Mouse, here is my money. Otherwise, I'll save my money for myself, buy a few beers at a local bar, and save my complaining and whining for a meaningful cause.

Can I get a w00t? Maybe a chorus of 'amen's? You put into words EXACTLY what I was thinking.

Oh... and btw... to the original poster, Disney did sell the blimp (One of) and made a hefty amount off of it too. I believe the shipping was more then the price!

Admts,

First off, you know nothing about me, so hold you juvenile opinions and attacks to yourself. If anything I usually the person who tells people to stop complaining over trivial matters or ripping Disney any chance they get.

Because I don't think everything is "pie in the sky" does not make me anti Disney. I just have the guts to call a spade and spade, thats it.

You won't hear me upset that they closed Horizons to build Mission Space or if they get rid of a few things in The Land to make something better.

THE NEW FIGMENT RIDE IS NOT BORING AND THEY DID PUT MONEY INTO IT!

<< It's almsot painful to even hear "One Little Spark". >>

IT'S GREAT TO HEAR "ONE LITTLE SPARK"--IT'S A WONDERFUL SONG THAT SHOULD BE PRESERVED!

<< I mean come on, when you stop at the sight lab and then the smell lab, you call that entertainment? I think it makes Disney look bad. >>

THE NEW RIDE IS ENTERTAINING...MUCH MORE THAN THE PREVIOUS REDO FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! IT DOESN'T MAKE DISNEY LOOK BAD!

<< I know the original "redo" wasn't that good, but at least it didn't try to BE the original ride. This one trys to and fails miserably. >>

WELL, I THINK THIS VERSION SUCCEEDS IN CAPTURING THE LOOK/FEEL/SPIRIT OF THE ORIGINAL IMAGINATION RIDE! THE MAJORITY OF THE PUBLIC WOULD RATHER IT BE LIKE THIS, YOU KNOW!

WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN TO STOP COMPLAINING SO MUCH AND AT LEAST TRY TO ENJOY AT LEAST SOME THINGS FOR WHAT THEY ARE?!

Philip,

I can we can only agree to disagree. I guess YES, it is better to have this ride in there than the previous one, since at least it is Figment.

Hey, I'm hoping after multiple visits to it I will find some kind of fondness in it. My wife thinks its okay and doesn't share my distaste for it<shrug>

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If Kevin doesn't like the new imagination attraction this forum is the place for him to express that thought. If others don't agree with him that's fine, but please be civil in the expression of that opinion. :)

 I'm not so sure either. Eeyore is always changing colors. I tend to favor the classic Eeyore, he's grey. :)

I can see your point, however I must disagree with you. I will admit that I have only seen the new version on video, and I have ridden the previous version once, but from what I have seen, well, it just seems to have more story and "whimsy " than the previous version. Before, you just went by a bunch of things and saw a bunch of stuff. I did kinda like the part at the end with the connect the dots thing, and that brain scanner at the beginning (it was pretty funny :)). But it is better to have this than nothing at all. I think that the new ride is a real homage to the creators of Figment (and the Sherman Brothers), bringing back a very creative and rememberable character to the spotlight, instead of just sticking a few pictures of him in the ride like JIYI did.

One little spark of insipiration.

It's great to hear the song.

I have been on the new JII a bunch of times. I love it. I think it's great. It is a great tribute to Figgy...

And...

There were 4 dreamfinders. One was sold on eBay, one is in the archives, one exists at Epcot today, and I'm not sure where the 4th is...

The world may never know....

Figment was always my favorite Disney character and I'll admit, up front, that to me...the original will ALWAYS be the best.

That being said, I REALLY enjoy the new version. Like most people, I HATED Journey into Your Imagination. It was an insult.

The Journey into Imagination with Figment is great... it's not the original but nothing ever will be. That being said, they took some "ok" elements of the JIYI (such as the upside down room) and Figmentized it to make it pretty darn good.

Every scene is great...the final is darn right wicked cool, imho.

I got to see the new attraction a total of 6 times this past June (including 4 times in a row on my birthday, the ultimate Figment gift ot myself).

All of the friends whom I brought with me to see JIIw/F thought that it was an awesome attraction and a couple simply adored Figment. They all saw it twice with me.

I am overjoyed that JIYI is dead...long live JIIw/F!

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
I just cant get into this at all. Its a pants ride (in any of its incarnations) featuring a pants character, from a really pants film. However some people love it (including my wife, no taste) so if your unhappy do as i do either suffer in silence and dream of fine ales in the biergarten, or walk right on buy and watch the upside down fountain and chill.
