but I don't.

my mother and I have been apointed the task of putting together a family trip to disney. by family i mean 13 people, 5 of which have never been, 2 are under the age of 15.

my questions are this:
1. what's the weather like in april? i went this summer and got rained out one day and my mom is petrified that it will happen to us.

2. has anyone done a large group like this before? how did it go? we probably won't do a grand gathering just because there doesn't seem to be any benefit for us (we're trying to stay cheap here). is this an attempt at the impossible?

Weather in April. I cannot help you with the large party thing cause when my whole family gets together there are three of us not including the dog. But April weather I can help. I have been there in April when it was glorious weather. I have also gone when it rained every day. If you go to the weather channel website and type in Orlando FL you can get an average for each month rain and temps. This is more than you asked for but since it is part of what I went to collage for I might as well use my money. It depends on whether the daily rain pattern has set in yet or if there is some kind of front hanging around when you go. Sometimes those pesky tropical waves come in and can hang around for awhile. I wouldn't worry though it is usually hit or miss whenever you go. Hope I did some good.:)

Hi there!! Of course this is possible!! This is Disney where the impossible is always possible. To save you and your Mom tons of stress and headache though I seriously recommend using a REALLY good travel agent. I would recommend our own Kingdom Konsultant so she can get all stressed out and you and Mom look like you know someone truly amazing. She is a travel agent with all of those abilities, plus she loves Disney and is a sponsor of these boards in fact. So she knows Disney the way we do, all of the little things that make a truly memorable trip. She can coordinate every ones rooms and flights etc. She has always been pretty good about applying whatever discounts she can get for your group. Give her a PM thru the board or you can check out her website at www.KingdomKonsultant.com. And best of all there is no charge for her services!!! Good luck! Belle

I can't help with the big group question either, but I made a weekend trip last April for my birthday. We looked up the average weather in the Birnbaum official guide before we made the trip, and it lists the rainfall for April as the lowest of the year (1.8 inches). While we were there it only showered once, for about 30 minutes. (Of course, it was the thirty minutes we were sitting outdoors in the amphitheatre waiting for Fantasmic to start! )

Good luck with the planning!

The largest group we went with is 9...4 adults & 5 kids (13-3).
Trying to coordinate everything was hard, but after a few hours it comes naturally. "How many in your party?" ---"9"

Make your PS now, you may have to pay upfront (we did for the Hoop Dee Doo Review) because its such a large group. Remember you DO NOT have to stay together 24/7.

We made a list of Must see, Want to see, etc. This seemd to help. The weather should be nice, warm in the day a little cooler in the evening. Have fun!!!

We were married at WDW with 40 family and friends in attendance all from back home. As Belle said, at Disney anything is possible. Most of the group stayed off sight at rental houses. Just about everyone was down for a week. We did some things as a group and most of the time everyone was on their own to do what they wanted. Being the Disney freaks that we are we did a lot of the planning ourselves, but there are companies out there that can help such as Kingdom Konsultant. As for the weather in April, we were there last year in April and had great weather, certainly a lot better than what we left behind at home!

The most people I was there with was 10...including a 9-year-old. Planned everything from what days to visit where to priority seating. Really came up with a nice schedule, but also included a few periods of "downtime" where smaller groups could go do some things on their own and meet back up later.

 look out for any object coming out of the tv (especially of the creepy-girl-with-hair-covering-her-face variety)....

As for weather in April...well it varies...at times its rainy and a bit chilly....sometimes there is awesome weather and its real hot....but I wouldn't worry about the weather so much...

happy planning...

For a group that large, I'd definitely recommend a vacation rental home or two together. We saved a great deal of money in March by renting a condo for 7 of us instead of booking 4 hotel rooms.

For the sanity of all concerned, I'd also recommend rotating the "chauferring" duties. I went nuts because everyone always assumed I'd drive everywhere, and they went crazy because if I'm driving, I'm taking my own route and play whatever music I like :D .

Don't drive yourself crazy trying to be the "tour guide" either. If anything divy those duties up amongst the entire group.

Hi.. the largest party I've ever been with is 9.. things went fairly well, but there was one person in the party that we were always waiting for.. I promised myself that if I ever were to go with a large party again, I would go about doing things the way I wanted to, and meet up with late risers, etc. at an appointed time & place later in the day. As far as April weather, we've been to FL in April probably 4 times or so.. and we were fortunate to have beautiful weather every time! Warm & sunny... shorts & bathing suit weather. :) Personally... I wouldn't go for the vacation rental home... I prefer staying in my own room with my immediate family & meeting up with extended family during the day... good luck with your planning, & most of all have a wonderful time!!

Large groups are hard to manage in WDW. This year we went as a very large group (We had 15 in our group), and most of the time we ended up splittling up. It is too hard to get everyone's wants managed in to one day when everyone wants something different.

We went two years ago in April with 14 people. We rented a house which saved a lot of money. It was very hot when we went. One tip, don't be disappointed if the group splits up. I learned the hard way. Have fun.
