  • The service is impecable.
  • The transportation.
  • The themes of the resorts really help me escape reality.
  • Love the pools!
  • The food is good.
  • Location, Location Location.
Did I miss anything? :king:

I agree with Joshwill....

Also, to me, its part of the magic. If I had to go off property each night I think I would feel like I was going home at the end of each day and that would be a bummer. I guess I would get used to it.

All of the above are on my list. I think my biggest reason for staying at a Disney resort is "NOT HAVING TO DRIVE"......ANYWHERE! That is the best! Of course, the extra magic hours are pretty convenient, too.

even when I stay at one of the allstar hotels.. it makes me feel special I guess.... or just knowing that I'm on disney property and so close to everything .... the disney resorts/hotels are another part of the vacation.

I'd say I like the resorts and deciding where to stay just as much as actually going to the parks. :sohappy:

1. Closer to everything
2. Disney transportation...enough said, because it's great!
3. A lot more opportunities altogether when you stay on property, like EMH for example.
4. I feel more like I am around the magic when i stay at a disney resort throughout my entire trip
5. The atmosphere and theme of the resorts are just amazing...that's why most of us like to just visit different resorts just to walk around and have breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

For me, after checking to make sure everything is packed for the billionth time (yet something always gets left behind :brick:), driving 2 hours to stay a hotel near the airport after everyone gets off work (around 10 p.m.), arriving at midnight, sleeping for 3 - 4 hours, loading everything into the complimentary airport transportation, checking in at the airport, and then flying from Spokane,Washington to Orlando (usually with a layover that lasts an hour or two) staying on site at any resort is like staying at one of those all inclusive spas that only the mega super rich can afford. Seriously though, I love that everything is close by and that transportation is provided....and free. Our first trip I did all the driving to and from the parks to an off site hotel and let me just say that I will NEVER do that again. Even my husband, who teases me about just sending Disney his paychecks, likes the whole staying onsite experience. He got the biggest kick with the whole buying-in-the-park-and-having-it-delivered experience. Plus, it made it much easier to carry the tired 5 year old back to the room the 2 or 3 times that we stayed for EMH. :lookaroun
I think that covers it.

Continuation

Someone said something about the theming of the resorts...I think it is the continuation of what I think Walt would have called the "show" that keeps me coming back to the resorts. The service is not just impeccable: it is Disney. The theming is not just magical, it is Disney. It works as a whole....and makes the experience greater than the sum of the parts.

Two trips ago we went off-property for a meal and my wife and mom just could not understand why I was so upset about it. I told DW that it was like the second we stepped off the property the vacation was over and I was back in the real world.

That is why we bought into DVC....I don't want to go back to the real world, and when I do I want to be sure I will be coming back to WDW (God willing!).

Parking the car for the duration is my number one reason. And after our first onsite stay, we've never stayed outside again. In fact, since 2001, we are DVC members; nough said (at least for us).

1) The greeter at the front door of the Beach Club
2) The ability to walk to Epcot or MGM
3) The music
4) Character breakfasts just down the hall
5) The Christmas decorations
6) All of the new small things that you discover everytime you go!

Why?

Ever try to get a kid out of a toy store? Well that's what it's like trying to get me off property once I'm there. Everything everyone else just said are the same reasons we stay on site. I guess I still just a big kid...:p

I agree with everyone else on the reasons why I prefer to stay onsite. We've done both and stayed at a variety of disney resorts values/mods and we've never been disappointed. I must say that its being totally submersed into your vacation..you do escape the real world while you are there...we were at wdw when Ronald Reagan passed away and it was 2 days before we found out. you just aren't reading the newspapers and watching the news. Its nice to know that the world does go on w/o you and that if you don't get everything done every day things will not come to a halt. Once you arrive at the resort you are pretty much taken care of.

Once you leave the property, the illusion is spoiled. Walt Disney World was created on a massive plot of land in Florida, so the outside world could be kept out. What is the fun of a Disney vacation where you sleep in a tourist trap???? - So to go along with what has already has been said- I prefer it because it is a continuation of the magic of the parks.

I love being in the magic 24/7, the Magical Express, transportation to the parks, shipping your packages back to your resort after shopping :), and all that other good stuff that comes along with staying in a Disney resort, you just can't beat it! Oh I can't wait until May............
