I popped the question!

I mentioned in a previous post that I was going to ask my girlfriend to marry me while down in Disney and it went off without a hitch!

A quick summary as to what happened....

She and I had breakfast reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table on Easter Sunday for 9:30. We got there about 9 AM (I managed to act calm though, all the while, I had the ring in my pocket). It was a beautiful morning--not too warm and very few clouds in the sky. We got to CRT, had our pictures taken with Cinderella (there wasn't much of a crowd yet, surprisingly) and waited just a short while (about 10-15 minutes). They finally called us upstairs and we went in and they seated us square center by the window overlooking Fantasy Land (that was part of the packaged I paid for--that specific table). We started having breakfast when I got up to snap some more photos. I quietly met with the manager (out of my gf's sight of course) and slipped her the ring and she explained what would happen. I then sat back down, ate the food and snapped photos with all of the characters that were there.

At the end of the meal, the waitress said she would get the check and, instead brought out a covered plate. She said that she "forgot" to bring out the special dessert and set it down in front of my gf and removed the cover. What she revealed took my gf's breath away. It was a glass slipper sitting in a bed of rosepetals and filled with the same petals. In the center of the shoe was the ring I had bought her. I then handed my camera to one of the waiters and there were now 3 cast members standing around the table (not too close to hog but close enough to get shots)--our waitress, the waiter with my camera and the PhotoPass castmember. I could imagine that other tables around us were suddenly looking to see what was going on but I didn't notice (my attention was quite focused on other things as you could imagine).

I then started reciting the proposal to my gf and it went like this (I remember it because I had been practicing it for 2 months now)....

"Tish, I once gave you a card that said I was expecting to fall in love. That wasn't quite true. I was in love with you the moment I met you. I was in love with you BEFORE I met you and I am in love with you now. You are the woman I think of, dream of, wished for, prayed for. For the past 2 years, you have been many things to me--my partner, my confidante, my lover and my friend. Many times I have called you 'my princess' and now I'm asking you to be my queen. I can't think of a better time or place to do it than on a day that symbolizes rebirth and new life and in a land where fantasies and wishes do come true than to ask......"

"Letitia Eileen Beal, would you grant me the infinite honor and boundless pleasure and accept my hand in marriage? Tisha, will you marry me?"

She of course said "yes" (she in fact said it right after the first question but I kept on since that is how I practiced it and she said "yes" a second time). At that point, tables around us applauded and the PhotoPass member snapped a couple more photos as well as the waiter with my camera. The waitress then boxed up the slipper (which had our names engraved on the side, the date on the bottom and "Will you be my queen?" on the other side) as well as the complementary champaign flutes (with had the Disney logo engraved on them) and the Mickey/Minnie proposal pins.

A couple young teenage girls then came over and asked if I had just proposed to her and my girlfiend excited said that I had and they both congratulated us.

All in all, a perfect moment in our lives. It was a little pricey ($275 including tip) but it made for a magical moment and one that both of us will remember for the rest of our lives.

Now onto planning the wedding and our honeymoon (at WDW of course!)

*sighs* aww...so romantic. Too bad my SO has promised me (up and down, sideways and crossways) that he wouldn't propose to me in WDW.

Find a new man!! My ex-SO hated Disney with a passion (never really gave me a good reason why) and when I asked to be proposed to @ Disney he said no way, never ever ever. We broke up shortly after that.

No, I will not break up with him. I think he's "the one". But he said that it's so cliche, something I'd almost expect. So no Disney. Which is fine with me, because he wants to do it in a surprising manner.

YAY!!! Congrats to you both, and good luck with all of the fun planning you have ahead, and welcome to the club!!! I was proposed to during Wishes this past January. While it was the most shocking experience of my life, it was also one of the sweetest and most sentimental moments also. Congrats!

My fiance also swore up and down that he would never pop the big one at WDW. Maybe your guy also has a surprise up his sleeve...

i did the same exact thing except i had planned it before we got there and dropped off the ring earlier, it was funny because it seemed like everyone there knew what was going to happen except for her, the looks the waitstaff were giving us were priceless, when i did it im pretty sure no one really knew what was going on because there were a lot of loud little kids (dinner time). the next day we did the leave a legacy at epcot with our names and the date

Congrats. Its worth every penny. I dont want to tell you how much I spent on my proposal at WDW. It was really elaborate but again worth every $$.

And if you did pay for it on your Visa and have proof of that I would definitely contact them if they are doing a "priceless" ad.

maybe he's saying he would NEVER propose at WDW so that when he does, you won't expect it! haha. ;)ps. this is the most beautiful story... I cried! I can only hope my proposal is as romantic.

Cool!!

awesome news man!! I usually get on here just to read what's going on, but that really merits a post!! How were you able to arrange the slipper and stuff. I've been trying to research Disney Proposals but i was under the impression that they had done away with that part of their Wedding services. PLEASE let me know what i need to do to make something like that happen!! Congrats!
