I popped the question!

I mentioned in a previous post that I was going to ask my girlfriend to marry me while down in Disney and it went off without a hitch!

A quick summary as to what happened....

She and I had breakfast reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table on Easter Sunday for 9:30. We got there about 9 AM (I managed to act calm though, all the while, I had the ring in my pocket). It was a beautiful morning--not too warm and very few clouds in the sky. We got to CRT, had our pictures taken with Cinderella (there wasn't much of a crowd yet, surprisingly) and waited just a short while (about 10-15 minutes). They finally called us upstairs and we went in and they seated us square center by the window overlooking Fantasy Land (that was part of the packaged I paid for--that specific table). We started having breakfast when I got up to snap some more photos. I quietly met with the manager (out of my gf's sight of course) and slipped her the ring and she explained what would happen. I then sat back down, ate the food and snapped photos with all of the characters that were there.

At the end of the meal, the waitress said she would get the check and, instead brought out a covered plate. She said that she "forgot" to bring out the special dessert and set it down in front of my gf and removed the cover. What she revealed took my gf's breath away. It was a glass slipper sitting in a bed of rosepetals and filled with the same petals. In the center of the shoe was the ring I had bought her. I then handed my camera to one of the waiters and there were now 3 cast members standing around the table (not too close to hog but close enough to get shots)--our waitress, the waiter with my camera and the PhotoPass castmember. I could imagine that other tables around us were suddenly looking to see what was going on but I didn't notice (my attention was quite focused on other things as you could imagine).

I then started reciting the proposal to my gf and it went like this (I remember it because I had been practicing it for 2 months now)....

"Tish, I once gave you a card that said I was expecting to fall in love. That wasn't quite true. I was in love with you the moment I met you. I was in love with you BEFORE I met you and I am in love with you now. You are the woman I think of, dream of, wished for, prayed for. For the past 2 years, you have been many things to me--my partner, my confidante, my lover and my friend. Many times I have called you 'my princess' and now I'm asking you to be my queen. I can't think of a better time or place to do it than on a day that symbolizes rebirth and new life and in a land where fantasies and wishes do come true than to ask......"

"Letitia Eileen Beal, would you grant me the infinite honor and boundless pleasure and accept my hand in marriage? Tisha, will you marry me?"

She of course said "yes" (she in fact said it right after the first question but I kept on since that is how I practiced it and she said "yes" a second time). At that point, tables around us applauded and the PhotoPass member snapped a couple more photos as well as the waiter with my camera. The waitress then boxed up the slipper (which had our names engraved on the side, the date on the bottom and "Will you be my queen?" on the other side) as well as the complementary champaign flutes (with had the Disney logo engraved on them) and the Mickey/Minnie proposal pins.

A couple young teenage girls then came over and asked if I had just proposed to her and my girlfiend excited said that I had and they both congratulated us.

All in all, a perfect moment in our lives. It was a little pricey ($275 including tip) but it made for a magical moment and one that both of us will remember for the rest of our lives.

Now onto planning the wedding and our honeymoon (at WDW of course!)

Yep, I'm in tears! Congrats to you both! I wish you a very long happy life together.

That price seems very reasonable for an unforgettable moment. You will look back on it and realize it is priceless. (I can see the Visa commercial now)

Can you post some pictures please? We wanna see it!

Also, are you planning on getting married at WDW?

You know, Mastercard is having a contest right now. You fill in the blanks with your info for their "priceless" commercial and if they selct you you win! I'm not sure what you win, but this story sounds like a winner to me. You should check out their website and submit it. You might win enough to help on your honeymoon who knows.
