AP's are Annual Passes. Florida residents have a choice between two diffferent types. A regular AP which entitles you to admission to the big 4 parks ( Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, MGM Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom) 365 days a year. There is also a Seasonal that can be purchased which is a bit cheaper but has black out periods where you are not allowed to use it such as Eastertime, Christmas, most of the summer etc. The price for the regular AP for a Florida resident is $335.48. The Seasonal is 222.59. The pass is good for 365 days from the first day you activate it. Please keep in mind that the prices above are for Florida residents ONLY!! People who live out of state can also purchase the AP ( I have one) but it is more money. Florida residents do get somewhat of a discount. Also seasonal AP's arent available to out of state guests. My AP (initial purchase renewals are slightly less on all forms of AP) was $420.68. Do you live in Florida?? It would help me in terms of being able to get the most amount of ticket for your money. Bellejaymatal said:Thanks for the response. Unfortunately FL residents have a minute discount. What are APs?
I think you do well here, Padawan!!! Seriously though that is EXACTLY what I would have said. If you plan on going for more than 8 days or two trips totaling more than 8 days, the AP may be the way to go. I bought mine in 2002 and never looked back!!! Then again last year I was in one park or another on 24 separate days during the course of the year. So far this year it is 10 days and I have two more trips booked with a third in the early planning stages!!! So for me it is a no brainer!!! Keep in mind that you do not usually save on Tickets for your trip! It is the room discounts, Free Dining Plan (which is now in effect for certain Fall dates), AP discounts, military, etc where you tend to look for savings! For example if you are out of state and want multiple park hoppers The cost of a 10 day base ticket with no X and PH added to it is less than an AP.
10 day base w/ noX & PH = $ 365.30 w/ tax (and less in purchased in
advance)
AP cost = $ 420.68
So in S_Grise's case a good idea would be to purchase one AP to get all corresponding discounts and the rest in 10 day park hoppers w/ noX. As always this depends on how many days you are going and how many trips per year, etc. The main person handling the trip could save on room rates and food, etc. And even purchase the DDE card to save up to 20% on food for a group of 10 (I believe).
Depending on the time of year you go (like this 8-21-2005 thru 10-4-2005) you could get the FREE Dining Plan with the purchase of a Magic Your Way Vacation Package. This would save tons on food costs for your party.
Wannabebelle, back me up here whatcha think?
Hey there me again!!! Purchasing the AP is a good idea, but I would opt for the right amount of days with a park hopper option or add both the park hopping( Which is included on the AP) and the no expires depending on if you are going again!!New2WDW said:PADAWAN! Awe...when can I move up into the Master Jedi realm! You saw what happen to anakin!
I was just thinking:snore: ........O yea! For the family of 5 you would save about $222 if you purchased 1 AP and 4 PH w/ NOX instead of all 5 AP's. Not that great of savings, but if you planned a vacation between the dates of the FREE Dining Plan your family of 5 would get the FREE meal plan
5 adults x $35 = $175/day x 10 days = $1,750.00 of Free food!
Everyone in the room must be on the same plan so you would have to purchase the room at regular rate and the tickets for each person to get this deal. You need to figure out what the room savings would be on your resort and factor that against other options! Yes you could spend days trying to figure out the best option, so like I said before...the more details you can lock down the more info you can figure out!

Don't be embarassed, S_Grise - I used to do the same thing. I have gone twice in the past 12 months in order to take advantage of the "Canadian Funds at Par for Dream Maker" packages for a total of 18 days in the parks. While it was nice to get the discounts on the meals (because I payed for the old Silver Plan add-on), I am kicking myself for not having gone with the AP option sooner...S_Grise said:Thank you everyone. This is really helpful advice. I'm embarrassed to say that on our past trips, we just booked whatever package "sounded" good and moved on. I know we wasted lots of money and I don't want to do that ever again. I hope it's okay if I bug you all again when it gets closer to trip time.
