Another person here in agreement with staying a night on site. You will get the EP for the day you arrive as well as the next day, and you will get early entry in the parks as well - worth it if you want to hit the Harry Potter stuff early.

I think I am going to go ahead and assume I will not be changing hotels. I am not saying it's not a money saver in regards to the express pass thing. I believe it is...you guys all have WAY more experience with it than I do so I trust you on it. It's just I am WAY crazy organized, (I should be medicated honestly but won't take it because I am afraid it will make me gain weight and I am already too fat for that. Plus I don't want to become a slob...don't judge :)). I know once I get in to the cabin and set up shop that I will not want to have to repeat that process again at a Universal resort. Plus we are getting the free dining and planned on using one of the extra table service credits that we wouldn't use while at Uni to use at Le Cellier since it takes 2. We also may try one of the diner shows that take 2...or The Boathouse or whatever.
Anyways...how reliable do you think basing this year's park hours and HHN are for planning reasons for next year? I mean do you think it's safe to assume they won't have HHN on Mondays and Tuesdays again? I just want to be able to purchase tickets as far in advance as possible but they make you select the first day you will use them...and I can only base that decision on this year's calendar. @Jon81uk I know you mentioned your planning is based off this year's calendar but did you have to buy your tickets based on that assumption? Or are you not tied down to having to choose the first day you will use your ticket? I just REALLY want to lock in the ticket price if I can...

I bought through a UK ticket reseller and got tickets good for the whole of 2016 so I don't think it matters (I used FloridaTix.co.uk) maybe someone. Else knows more about UnderCoverTourist.com and can help further.

I don't think Lowes does bed checks. You could still get the room and not spend the night in it. It could be somewhere to go for a mid-day break on your first day.

Most tickets are good forever until first use. Only specific tickets have a first use date. I bought a set of three day tickets from undercover tourist before the price went up last year just to keep. Just be sure to make sure you aren't buying a date specific set.

Also go into it knowing that the studios side will close at 5 p.m. if you go on a day that will have Halloween Horror Nights that night. IOA will be open later. The night we went this year IOA was open until 8 p.m. So plan carefully. And as others have said go with express whether you buy the ticket with unlimited or book a nights stay with it included. There have been rumors that changes are coming to express and which hotels will offer unlimited but I guess we won't know until UO tells us.
What do you mean changes to Unlimited EP??????

Universal is somewhat aggressively expanding their room count (beyond Saphire Falls and the new Cabana Bay rooms) that make expansion of the perk seem less likely. Express Pass is also not consistent across the new tiers that Universal has created. At the least people expect the perk to be dropped from Royal Pacific.

I thought they were just keeping it at the "deluxes", I like that they limit it, otherwise it's worthless. And I can't imaging EVER planning what I want to ride with FP+ and magic bands:depressed:. As long as the HRH still gets it, I'm good:cool:

Value and Deluxe are no more. The categories are now Prime (Value), Preffered and Premier (Deluxe). As part of this change Royal Pacific dropped down from Deluxe to Preffered. Royal Pacific still offers the Express Pass but Universal has already announced that Saphire Falls, which will also be a Preffered level hotel, will not.

Although the 3-day package is now $90 so you need seven photos to make it worth it. But you should get at least four per park quite easily.

You know what's funny is I actually bought my tickets last week on 2/9. I am a spaz planner and do what I can as soon as I can. I dilly dallied enough w/the UNI tickets so I finally pulled the trigger last week. By some miracle, I missed the price increase. It must have been put in place literally a day or two after I bought the tickets. Woot woot!! :)
