Just got back from the poly on 10/23. It will be worth the upgrade and a nice surprise.

Try the spirt of Aloha show at the poly as another suggestion.

I say go to Cirque du Soleil and Downtown Disney for some dinner! Or maybe one of the yummy dinners at a nearby hotel!

upgrading the hotel might be a little TOO romantic for some one who is just a friend! You could always head over to the poly and watch MK fireworks from the beach... it is a neat place to see them.... away from everyone else! You can always take her to some dinners or breakfasts as well to make her stay really special!

Reserve the Illuminations fireworks cruise. This was the highlight of our trip. Maybe a little late to make the reservation.
