I know how to Save Figment

Weirdo.... Figment is fine. And he's lucky that he survived too. He's the only survivor of the Great Epcot Purge. We don't NEED the original ride, we just need Dreamfinder and maybe the Dreamseekers from ToD to return at the Imagination Pavillion.

Ha, one could IMAGINE! :)

Really, I agree that the original ride was truly a work of art. Unfortunatley, no one can convince Disney right now to take the effort to totally remake the current version into something timeless.

I know one thing that's very easy - and that's bringing back the Dreamfinder. At least the SPIRIT of Imagination can return if not in the physical art form. :)

The new ride is horrendous. I honestly dont think I will ever ride it again. It was like a cheap carny ride. I mean, you could see the entire ride system, and the effects are terrible.

At this point, Imagination is a waste of time. There is no point to go over to that pavilion anymore. And the more unfortunate thing, is that it will be like that for a long time. Get used to the ride that is there, because it will be here for a while.

Meh, I still like Imagination, primarily because Figment managed to survive. It just needs some of the old rides magic back and the Institute theme abolished. Bring in Dreamfinder with Dreamseekers in tow, completely redo the main floor to create a lobby reminiscent of the Wonka candy factory with all sorts of neat gadgets and stuff around and have a new ride and 3D movie, Re-open the upstairs Image Works and put in a well themed resturant reminiscent of the Animation Resturant on the Cruise Line and you get a top notch pavillion celebrating human creativity.

I was thinking...what is going to appeal to a child more? That actor in the new Imagination or the Dreamfinder? Hmmm...BRING HIM BACK!!

I totally agree with the previous two posters comments.

Something MUST be done with the current attraction. Granted, something HAS been done recently to help liven it up: The new "Figment's Place" where Guests can meet the huge Godzilla-sized Figment walkaround character.

Everytime i look at old photos of the original "walkaround" Figment (with Dreamfinder holding him!) i get all emotional.

Why did they have to go and ruin a good thing that was obviously WORKING??!!

The current Imagination Pavillion has absolutely NOTHING to do with being "imaginative" or "creative".

Both of these words seem to, as of late, be foreign to the pencil-pushers at Disney.

Bring back Dreamfinder!!!!

If NOT now..then definately for Epcot's 25th Anniversary!!

Well in a perfect world, Lack of Imagination will be replaced by a Dreamfinder-hosted extravaganza using the trackless ride technology from Pooh's Hunny Hunt, with effects ten years ahead of its time. That would be something to see. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

The only reason I enjoy the current Lack of Imagination is because of the inclusion of the song. I don't care how bad the attraction is, that song makes it bearable. Here's to Disney Magic.

I agree, the pavilion is bearable and I still like some of the cheap Carny effects like the Butterfly in the cage. Of course I would rather see the original ride back, but it likely won't happen. I like alot of the suggestions Tahu had, a sit down like the one on the cruise ship would be great. A new entrance would be perfect it seems to sterile spice it up a bit (maybe windows looking into labs with animatronic scientists having mishaps or creating cool stuff. Heck you can bring back the animitronic robot from horizons that poured the milk for the cat all over the floor. Without a doubt bring back the dreamfinder, but he can be incorporated into the current setup, he can now just be a scientist that is working on dream studies and they can have fun and get creative with this. Honey I shrunk the audience is still a good show but it should be redone at this point it's been around for what 10 years? If they do change that though I would like that show and Captain EO on a Dvd for sale in the park somewhere.

During my last ride on this attraction I noticed a minor change. Not sure how "new" this "news" is but...

After loading into the attraction cars the first room that you would go into would "measure" your imagination. They used some funky weird red lights that took care of this. Then, at the end of the ride, they would measure it again and the passengers "crazy" imagination spike was what supposedly blew the computers out of the attraction thus revealing the final scene.

When I road the attraction on Christmas Day, they did neither measurement! It made the ride even shorter! :(

Anyone else notice this?

I think you are talking about "version 2", which was the original redo.....the room that is now the "Figment area" at the end was the "post-ride" measurement area. When the ride was re-Figment'ized, that stuff went away.

When did this change take place? I also remember these measurement areas. We had trips in the mid to late 90's, is this about the time of the switch? Thanks.

Journey into Imagination closed in October 1998. Half the track with cut and Dreamfinder was completely removed. Journey into YOUR Imagination opened in September 1999. Based on massive complaints, it closed in October 1982. The "Journey Into Imagination with Figment" ride opened in June 2002 with entirely different ride theming and sets (minus the one butterfly cage). In the opinion of most, it just can't be compared to the original.

You're so right! I have a video of a very young me talking with Figment and Dreamfinder. I was really nervous, and Dreamfinder kept trying to get me to talk to him. Finally, he had Figment "eat" my hat and I started laughing, and then I didn't stop talking! He talked to me for at least 15 minutes, even though there was a huge crowd around. He let me "pet" Figment and everything. A lot of people came around to watch, and my dad got the whole thing on video. Later in the day, someone walking by said "Hey there's the Figment girl!"

Now that's what Disney magic used to be about.

You know how to save Figment bring back the original RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that would contradict the point of the pavilian. What is the point of the imagination pavilian if you have to rework the original ride? The best idea would be to challenge the imagineers with an attraction that had no Nigel, no Figment, and no Dreamfinder and create an entirely new experience.

I do hope that happens someday because that is the way it should be.
