I had my Wisdom Teeth pulled on Friday, and it was pure torture. I am SO glad it is over. I was sick and couldn't eat, still can't chew anything, I bled for three days, can't stop drooling, oh the pain.... Ugh...But thanks for everyone's suggestions and comments and info!

My daughter had this done about a month and a half ago. I took frozen bags of peas and she held them to her face. They mold right to the face. She had all four done and she also had the muscle between her two front teeth lasered off. She didn't have very much pain or swelling. If she did have pain I gave her the meds that the doctor prescribed.

I haven't ever had mine out and I can just imagine the pain.:( I hope your feeling better.

Sorry, I don't. All I know is that it caused a large space between her front teeth. She has braces on and it would force the teeth apart again when she gets them off, so we had it removed.

It sounds like she had a frenectomy done. Sometimes that thingy ("frenum") that connects your gums to your lip needs to ease up a little. If you stick your tongue up in the front of your mouth you can feel it.

Does that sound right, Pam?

The pain and all other other stuff will go away, I promise. Just make sure that you take a lot of pills that put you to sleep and you'll be fine! :) I slept threw almost my whole recovery, it was great!

That's it Erika. The Oral surgeon said that it was a muscle.

Thank you Pam and Erika for the information! I now understand that a tight lingual frenum can cause front teeth rotation and abnormal swallowing patterns and tongue thrust. I was not aware of this condition. Good to hear that your daughter had this condition corrected Pam.

LOL Somebody's been doing some research!

We sent my brother for the same procedure because it was causing his gums to recede...so there's another for your list!

i get my wisdom out this summer. Think of the pain.

If it makes you feel any better, mine was pain-free, and I'm a wuss! My brother didn't have any problems either. It's partly luck and partly a good choice of an oral surgeon. Try not to worry too much

Mine was NOT pain free, as you can tell. I am going on 1 week, and still, this annoying pain. My jaws are so sore, my stitches pull, I can only open my mouth an inch, I can't chew, and the pain at night and in the morning is beyond explaination (Even with the Vicadon) Ugh, someone put me to sleep for a month.
