The Report
Ok..now that I'm all rested, I'll spill what I know/remember.
First off, they ARE celebrating the MK's 30th birthday. It is just slightly overshadowed by the 100 years celebration. There are all the usual souveniers for it (snowglobes, jackets, shirts, pins, etc).
Didn't get a chance to see the new MK parade, mainly because we overslept on our afternoon nap the day we were going to see it. They have released a bunch of new snowglobes from the parade, and most are very, very cool...we especially liked the villians and the tinkerbell double-decker snowglobe.
Construction on Main St. USA is done. Walls were down on saturday and the new emporium was open for business. I didn't even realize I went through a new section until i went out in the street to see how close we were to the new part and I realized we were in it.
A lot of rehab was going on. Astro-orbiter was still down as expected. There are numerous things going on in Epcot right now. First off, there is a large wall in front of the trees to the left of germany, but to the right of the african shops. A sign simply reads "watch this space for a future discovery". I was able to peek through the fence the last night we were there and i saw nothing but a refreshment tent. However, the walls did go quite deep into the trees. I refuse to believe the walls were there just for a tent for a private party. The night I wrote mightyduck, there was a large scrim in front of the Italy pavillion, as well as a wall around the base, with coridors leading to the inside. The next night, the scrim was down, showing a new paint job, but the walls still remained. Probably just rehab, I figure. Mission space is coming along nicely. They have to be doing a lot of work inside during the day, because there is little/no activity outside.
MGM was the center of activity. The walls are down around the hat, and is mobbed by people all day long. It is impressive, to say the least, and pictures do NOT do it justice. It really shines at night, however. The ears and stars sparkle. They have blue lights on it instead of white lights to make the paint "glow" instead of reflect. The lights on the ears are unique because they change from just regular lights to star patterns that follow the spirals of the ears. Impressive to say the least. Also around the hat are meet and greets that vary from day to day. We saw mary poppins, cinderella, and many other rare characters out there on a regular basis. The stars and motorcars parade is neat, although the soundtrack was repetitive. The cars are impressive, and the whole thing is narrated live by an MGM castmember...the ones that do the street acting. Millionaire was awesome....I was very frustrated because I had the worst luck. I could lead the crowd the whole game in score, and then would always miss the same question the person did. If I would have got it right, I was so far ahead I would have been in the hot seat easy. I did this 4 times in 2 days.
Animal Kingdom is about the same...no news or signs of BK yet.
And now for my big news...My fiancee and I have decided to move our wedding to WDW. We have to change the date a bit, but we toured the wedding pavillion by the GF and we fell in love with it instantly. The prices actually arent' that bad, as a lot is included in the price.
If i think of more, i will be sure to post it. I will have pictures of the new emporium and a lot of the new 100 year topiaries that are everywhere soon.
