But in my opinion, there have been a lot of good Disney movies even after he left. I keep hearing how they were "so bad", but I can still see all the work that went into these movies when I go to see them.
I agree with you completely. I think Disney and its talent pool was rocked by the loss of Katzenburg and the people who left with him to go to DreamWorks.
But I also think he isn't the only one who can do the job. Competition is healthy. Disney just needs to focus its animation business on quality, not quantity. The sequels and television crap are beginning to chip away at Disney animation department's reputation.
They also need to make the animators routinely review and study what made the classics, both modern (Lion King, Beauty) and older (Jungle Book, Snow White) work. It is always worth looking back over something that worked for a fresh perspective and inspiration.
And, by the way, hellokitty, you left off Song of the South, another classic but one that the PC crowd will never let you see in mass release again, despite the historical relevance of "Uncle Remus tales." All we get is "Zip-a-Dee-Do-Dah" and Splash Mountain, with the main character replaced by a frog!
