I have noticed lately that the new Disney movies have been really bad. Don't get me wrong though, I love disney, but there movies have just not been "Disney quality." Its really disapointing. I think after the Mulan movie, everything went down hill. does anyone feel this same way?

I think it's because they crank them out now, like a factory. One crappy one right after another one, instead of coming out with a quality movie every 6 months or so.

I think it has something to do with the absence of Katzenburg.

But in my opinion, there have been a lot of good Disney movies even after he left. I keep hearing how they were "so bad", but I can still see all the work that went into these movies when I go to see them.

hmm... I would've started the crappy movie list with Mulan, rather than after it.. but then again, I like TENG and hated Atlantis

I liked Hercules and Mulan, but not as much as the earlier titles. I really liked Emporer's New Groove. Not the traditional Disney stuff, but it is nice to see something different every once in a while. Arent the guys who made this movie making a movie about Chicken Little? I hope so.

...from when I was a kid, I remembered that like every summer they came out with a new movie...

Disney has always been the "master" of the re-release. Put a movie into the theaters then stick it in the vault for several years and then re-release it. They're doing the same thing now in DVD and video releases. Historically speaking, Disney is releasing more animated blockbusters (i.e. good new movies) than any previous time.

Disney needs to stick to what they were doing to get them to where they are today. Like a lot of other entertainment and music, they are always trying to reinvent themselves and a lot of times, I think so anyway, it comes out crapy. They also need to stop coming out with those sequals!!! It's been said on the posts a zillion times, but it's the truth. The worst, IMO, was Cinderella 2. I cringed throughout. Back to the topic of reinvention... look at Dinosaur and Atlantis... they were different, they were high tech, they were inventive, but they lacked something... a good story appealing to everyone. People aren't interested in the fact that no one has done this before, but if it's a good movie. Both of these movies bombed in the movies. Then, they come out with Lilo and Stitch. It's a story that everyone could like with music and comedy and fun... nothing high tech, just old fashion Disney magic. From what I've been seeing, however with Treasure Planet and all those other movies I've been hearing about on the post with nothing but 2d computer graphics or whatever, it sounds like they're throwing themselves in the crapper and flushing. You'd think they'd learn from past box office #'s or whatever to stick with what they've been doing. Sorry if this seems kind of jarbled and hard to understand. I just got out of English class and my writing mode is off for the day.

The Disney's new releases rock.. although they have lost the fairytale appeal that was first brought out in Snow White.. it's the sequels coming out on video that is the real killer.. not to mention the local morning cartoon shows.. there is only so much you can milk out of one story

I guess in my opinion I would say Lilo and Stitch tackled the family genre much differently than previous Disney pictures. Yes, it was old fasioned Disney magic in the sence that it contained good aspects of family, morals, and that, but I would argue that every movie Disney has made has those same morals. its not a bad thing that DIsney tries out new things (like Lilo & Stitch or Atlantis), it is a matter of finding out which type of movie people would most like.

I'm 21 and I love Monsters, Lilo, Emperor's New Groove, and most other Disney movies.

Wow! That's funny because I was just thinking the EXACT same thoughts the other day. Nothing coming out now has that "Snow White" or "Cinderella" type feel to it anymore. I do love all of them, but yes, they're lacking something. It does seem that Disney is now releasing movies in some way (theaters, DTV, etc.) back to back, which IS most likely a primary reason for it. All of the sequels makes it look like they've run out of fresh ideas! I don't know. Like I said, I like all of the animated Disney films. I really do! It just seems now that Disney is more interested in quantity over quality.

if disney can put a stop to the "Let's make a movie about our rides but not about our rides and all live action" then they might be good. my dad said CB could have worked as a catoon not as a live action flick. we all know where i stand on the HM movie if not, don't ask cause i'll go on a incoherent rant  mulan was ok, i liked atlantis, i haven't seen lil and stitch yet, hercules was inaccurate but ok in my book...btw, i love monsters inc
