The big welcome points over the main entrance road, with Mickey and Donald, etc.
That was the first thing our son picked up on when we took him on his first trip 5 years ago and it's kind of stuck now as the family "We've arrived" point.
The first feeling I get is when I pass the welcome center in Ocala. Then, it really hits me when I ride the monorail and do the entire voice-over. Finally, as I walk towards the entry way into MK, and see the railroad over the garden....
When we used to drive it was starting to see all the lights on I-4 when you are approaching and tuning the radio to the tourist information. Since we do not drive anymore I would have to say the moment the plane touches down and the pilot announces "Welcome to Orlando, the temperature is 85 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms later this afternoon"
By the way, Do they still have that tourist info radio?
The 'Welcome to Walt Disney World" signs first and then the sign for the Magic Kingdom. We usually stay at the Poly (for summer trips). Driving up to the gate and telling the attendant that we're checking in at the Poly. Next driving up the road to the light, making a left turn onto Seven Seas Drive and passing the Kennel Club then on to the Poly entrance. "We're Home!"
when i get to the resort im staying at, it starts, but it dosn't really hit home untill i walk into epcot, or MK, epcot its the music in the background, and then seeing SSE, and for the magic kingdon, its looking down main street to the castle.
I would have to say driving into Orlando, seeing the welcome signs, all the signs, the monorail, walking through the entrance to the Magic Kingdom, checking into the hotel. How about everything...lol
For me its actually a feeling that builds up, it all starts up with a quick three and half hour drive up to WDW, then the second wave would be entering the hotel (by now I'm already getting the "tingling feeling") and finally entering one of the parks--being hit with the music and park sounds and that unique Disney park aroma--its the last part of that "Welcome Back".
For me it is pretty much everything that has been said, but as for the very first sign, it would have to be the advertiosements in the airport for Disney. Plus those Mickey shaped telephone pole thigns!
For me I would have to say driving through the main gate and finding our hotel. I start thinking to myself, "Here I am again! Home at last!":sohappy:
When I lock my front door in England, get into the car and point it towards Gatwick is when it starts for me.
The final I'm really here would probably be when I have a fresh Annual Pass in my hand and am heading from the guest services window towards the entrace gates, listening to the background music.
Best of all, I get to do it for real this Saturday :sohappy:
