I HATE Florida weather

I rather have the heat then the bone chilling cold, snow, ice and wind. When you step outside, the cold wind takes your breath away and it hurts to breath. You feel so cold that your body and brain start to shut down, even if you are out for a short time. It is amazing how many Florida people complain about the heat. Yes, it is hot and humid in the summer, but it is just as hot and humid in the summer where I live(which for some reason nobody down there seems to realize). But then we flip and get the brutal cold instead of the nice winters that the south gets.

I guess it is that age old problem of humans, they always seem to think the grass is greener on the other side. I don't mind the heat, but truth be told, I would get bored with just one season. Here in central North Carolina, we actually do have noticeable seasons. It doesn't ever get to the extreme cold, unless you're a native then it is unbearable, but it gets cool enough that the seasons are obvious. The winning point is that the seasons especially winter seem shorter climate wise. But, like up north we have foliage season, just later, it's going on right now, in fact.
We get occasional snow that stops everything in it's tracks but with accumulations that would make northerners not miss a beat because we would have called it flurrys. Spring and Fall seems to last the longest here.

Yet, I know a couple of natives that cannot stand the summer heat. Everything around here is air conditioned except for the few minutes that one has to be outside to get from one place to another. I told them the even in Vermont, which most down here think is just one big green mildewed iceburg, get temps. in the 100's with stiffling humidity and central AC is a rarity in homes. Granted it doesn't last as long, but then again down hear no one has to contend with -20 to -35 degree weather that goes on for a couple of weeks sometimes with no break. When it comes to summer heat my question is how did people survive, much less stay around here before AC was invented. The thought of it gives me the vapers.

I asked FL locals how they survived without AC. Some advised me they would sit out on their front porch at night talking until they got so tired they would then go to sleep.

If air conditioning was not invented, then it would be a different story I think. We go back and forth between air and heat during the spring and fall seasons, usually it's one day heat and the next day air, etc, etc. The average high temps in Orlando are in the 70s for 5 months out of the year. I would not call that year round oppressive.
