I got computer parts for Christmas, and I built the computer, but windows would not load. I got it fixed and now I've had a new computer for a week now.

Does that mean you'll be spending a bit more time here again then?

Hopefully

I've been trying to post more often, like I used to. So I hope to get more time to because I like all the people here and like talking to them.

My husband gave me a new Sony VAIO laptop for Christmas. I still have to get used to typing on it. I have spastic fingers.

You only need two fingers to type.

And to be able to stick your tongue out of the side of your mouth!

I am getting a new computer (desktop home/home office model) shortly too. But I will buying mine "whole" instead of, well, building it. Sony Vaio, I've heard, is a very good computer line. Is that true? Are there any special features there that would make me pick that line over any others? Thanks for any advice. I've been reviewing so many different brands and stuff, I just want the hard facts from you guys. Thanks! :D :)

I'm going to be honest with you. Here is how I would rank the computer companies, from best to worst, considering hardware, software, and customer service:

  • Dell
Dell has the best computers for the price. The have superb hardware and design. The only downfall with the company is the customer service, which was at once award winning and amazing has slowly gotten worse because of the huge increase in sales.
  • GateWay
Another good company that is actually a little cheaper than Dell, but for a good reason: Gateway's stock is not in the best position, and whether or not you get a 1 year or 4 year warranty, you are taking a risk of waisting your money and having no support at all by buying a computer from a company that is at risk of going belly up.
  • Sony
The best company if you buy a computer from a store like Best Buy or Circuit City. They are a good quality computer but not as reputable as Dell or GateWay.
  • HP/Compaq
Plain and simple: AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This company is the WORST possible choice for computers, unless the only thing you are going to do with it is word processing. Their customer service is horrible and it is very hard to get any support.
  • E-Machines
    All I can't say is: EWWWWWWWWWWWW:hurl:

Hope this helps! :)
