AE was not a typical Disney attraction. As such, it created complaints. Thus, it was removed.
Yes it was not typical since it was original and good, therefore it had to be replaced with something typical. An attraction based on a mediocre film.

Next thing you know there going to close Snow White scary adventures because it shows a witch poisoning a girl.Or Peter Pan for pirates taking boys and girls and tieing them up to execute them by having them walk off a plank and into the mouth of a hungry aligator. Lets not forget the POTC with women tied up being sold for wives ,drunk pirates with cask of rum everywhere, and soldiers being held prisoners under gun point while the pirates wallow in the newly stolen loot.Who knows maybe even Haunted Mansion wont be safe from closing from complaints since they do show decomposed bodies prancing around and ghost going home with everyone that rides the rides especially the kids.I think people forget that Disney loved to bring all the emotions and imaginations out in kids and parents alike especially fear.Disney even expressed sadness, remember Bambi's mother being shot and how sad you felt and maybe even had a tear. I remember feeling how horrible it would be if it was my mother being shot.I wasn't traumatized but my emotions was stirred and to me thats classic Disney. If your a type of parent that wants to shelter your kid and have them grow up in a sterile enviroment than I feel that Disney is not for you. In one interview that I read Disney felt kids could handle the same emotions that the parents could handle. Most of his beliefs came from a church that talked about good vs. evil and the battle that exist between the two. And in that church the same lessons where taught to grown ups that where also taght to kids with no line drawn.

I still remember the lines were very long for the attraction.

Well really the lines for AE only started going down around 2000, if memory serves me right. In the 90's, if you wanted to see AE during the late morning-late afternoon times, you would have to expect a 30 to 45 minute wait easily.

Nice quote there RedBaron

I think that the Robo-newsboy is a nice touch to Tomorrowland, I took pictures of him some times before I got on TTA, but I didn't really get a chance to read his newspaper until last month. Once I read it I thought the little AE comment was cool, but I wasn't going to mention anything on the boards, because I didn't wan't MK to close up any possibly forgotten loops.

I took pictures and took video of the whole thing after I read it though just in case they ever change it.

What they needed to do to SGE is mention XS Tech and some of the older characters, even explaining that Clench himself donated the transporters to the Galactic Federation with the upmost confidence that they would work even though like in the original, everything goes awry... Just have some nods to the original and some more backstory AND a better script would work wonders for SGE.
