I don't understand Casting.

Ok, I am a College program alumni, and I am on restricted rehire. I really don't understand why when I apply to work down there on the alumni program, they always tell me I have to show proof of a job that I have had for six or more months before I can get my rehire status lifted. I am currently in school and am not able to get a job, therefore, I don't understand why I can't go down there and work for a few months as stated in the alumni program. Can someone please help me out with this, what am I doing wrong? It's like they are penalizing me for going to college.

Well, it depends on "WHY" you are on restricted rehire. If you left early, or were terminated due to too many times calling in, they want proof that you can work another job for 6 months, and hold that job before Disney can consider you reliable enough to work at WDW again.

Of course, sometimes restricted rehire statuses are a little different, but that is the most common malady

they want proof of job stability... and even though, still showing 6 months job stability might not be enough to get your rehire back. There's a handful of forum members here that have been denied even though they went through all of Disney's hoops.

But, MKT you can get back on there. I had a sister in law who was fired from Disney and was on a no rehire status, and they hired her back two years later. Also, I have talked to a rep from casting and she told me that my restricted rehire was easily overturnable. I just don't understand why I can't work down there maybe two to four months in the summer when I'm not going to school. I mean, they can't overlook it?

Nope. It's Disney's way or not at all. Disney can still say no even after you've completed their requirements. It sounds to me like your sister-in-law was the exception to the rule.

Yes, IF they overturn it, not when they overturn it. What I'm telling you is that there are several CM's, including some here, who were termed for minor things and had restricted/conditional rehire. After they completed all of Disney's hoops and waited, their restricted/conditional rehire was still not lifted and were told to reapply in 6 mos-1 year depending on the person.

no the cast member that told me this is a college program rep with direct access to casting, not a low level cast member.

and that is the same thing that almost all CM's in casting, with direct access to casting will tell you.

Pray for the best but expect the worst is all I'm saying. I personally was told by my recruiter that I was a shoe in for the position I interviewed for (it was for a divemaster position at Disneyquest... divers are common, divemasters much less common, and a divemaster with a degree + prior disney experience + prior management/supervisory experience willing to work for Disney's wages is considerably rare), I jumped through all of the hurdles (showed 2 years job stability when they asked for 6 mos., glowing letters of reference, etc) and 4 weeks later I received the letter stating: Try again in 1 year.

Disney, as a company, is extremely hypocritical. What I have told you is both my personal experience, and that of others out there.

What you have been told is what the CM knows to tell, but still has no power to control.

supply and demand

if the need is great and the supply is low then barriers will be dropped

if the need is not great or the supply is high then why should they take you when they can have someone who hasn"t given them issues?

essentially you are a willing pawn on their game board. they are either going to use you, sacrifice you or sacrifice another to get you back into play.

Unless they're an actual Casting person, don't get your hopes up. My friend was let go from the college program with a 6 month re-hire status. Guess what? She had a job for over 6 months, and good references from her boss BUT they still didn't hire her back. One thing you need to know about Disney is that they will tell you one thing, and do another.
