I couldn't wait anymore for Disney & the AP rates. SO after much nail biting I decided to go for it. I originally wanted 12/7 - 12/14 but they told me they had no Entertainment or AP rates for 12/7 or 12/8 (totally filled) so I took 12/9 - 12/16 for the AP rate of $139.00 ! I was offered either the Swan or Dolphin but told the Dolphin would not be fully renovated by then. I took the Swan & it's with a lake view room, king size bed & I put in a request for a balcony :sohappy: ! Left the 1 night deposit, can cancel within 5 days of trip. SO if Disney comes up with soemthing comparable I'll cancel the Swan & go to Disney but so far the Swan is looking better & better. I don't know ?

Anybody stayed there, was it as nice as it looks. Will I get early entrance in the parks, same treatment as if I stayed at a WDW resort ?

At least I feel secure that if no codes come up I have the Swan & a Disney vacation to look forward to !! :xmas:

I stayed at the Swan about 7 years ago. It was nice then, and I've heard that they've since renovated the rooms so I'm sure it's looking even better. By staying in the Swan or Dolphin, you get all of the same perks as though you were staying at a WDW resort. You will get early entrance and access to WDW transportation. The Swan is in an excellent location too with great restaurants. Even if a deal does come up somewhere else, I wouldn't cancel, especially since you're only paying $139 a night!!!!

I will be going in early November and thought about staying at the Swan again, but I don't like to stay in the same place twice when there are so many other choices.
:animwink:
I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Only 11 weeks to go!!

We stayed at the Swan this past summer, and it is a very nice resort. You get all the perks just like a Disney resort. We have always stayed in the Magic Kingdom area, but it was so nice being so close to Epcot when we stayed at the Swan. Have a nice trip!

Just got back from the swan today. It was a very good alternative for our family of 5 after the FTP was over. We got a govt. rate. I would have preferred the dolphin as it was a little closer to the pool, but doubt you would use that much in dec. The swan is so peaceful and the bed was heavenly for sure. We had 10th floor, no balcony but that was o.k. We had west wing which seemed a little closer to the boat launch and the ramp up to the boardwalk. The oatmeal soap and pink shampoo are different but in the room you get free coffeemaker with coffee, tea etc. The two things we did find inconvenient were you were not allowed to charge outside of the hotel on your room card so bring cash or credit card into the parks and to get a quick snack was also inconvenient. We went to the splash grill and had lunch and it was like $75.00. I am used to the $6.99 sandwich from captain cooks at the polynesian and also I dont know where you would refill the mugs if you purchased them. But all in all it was a good place for the money. We loved the pool.

Marypopmom,

What were the sleeping arrangements at the Swan for 5? I thought they just had 2 beds? I've only got 4 but my daughter and son are too old to sleep together! I've thought about getting a rollaway.

I love the Swan. Stayed there twice. Great location but, the bus is a little slow because your the first to the parks but, the last stop home. Boat transpo is nice. Being from the west coast, the 24 hr. cafe was a blessing. All the restaraunts are great in that neck of the woods. I find all rooms at WDW the same. Just different sheets. Though those long hallways can be confusing late at night.

You can request a rollaway. Its $25 a night. Its a bit tight but my kids didnt mind it. We had 10th floor with no balcony but the bed is pretty close to the big glass window. I would have felt safer if it was a balcony instead so we chose the quietest sleeper to stay on it. You could get an air mattress in there too, but nothing larger than a twin would fit. You will enjoy it there.

we stayed at the dolphin last august. it was great. just a walk or boat ride to Epcot or MGM. and Buss service from any where else. you can get the bus either outside the swan or the dolphin or walk the boardwalk or yacht and beach club and get the bus at either of those resorts. what we did one day was walk over to the yact and beach club and had a charecter breakfast at the cape may cafe. the buffet was good and it wasn't very crowded then we hopped the bus at the yact and beach club to go to the magic kingdom that day. worked out really well. also we ate a few morning at the coral cafe or garden grove/gullivers for breakfast. they have a really good buffet, inexpensive and on one day during the week the garden grove has charecters. and imagine this you have a really late dinner reservation in world showcase, you take your time eat your way past closeing time and take a liesurely stroll out the international gateway stop along the board walk for some dessert and some shoppinig then walk right to your hotel. if you want more info go to http://www.swandolphin.com

the swan is fantastic, i was worried before we left because some people were like "well its not disney", but it was fantastic!!!
staff are friendly, very clean ( thats the hotel, not the staff, although they didnt noticably smell or anything) had got a very magical feeling to it. Amazing lake view, absoultely fantastic location, can easily walk to epcot and mgm, even if its hot, and the water busses back are fantastic, espeically at night. we found the bus system to be great, especially after an e ride night when no one could be bothered to drive. also the money you might save can be put to good use at the brilliant restaurants at the boardwalk, only 2 minutes away. The restaurants at the hotel are a little pricey, but i suggest you have the character buffet breakfast at least once. there was only 3 other fammilies in there, so we had lots of goofy snd pluto love that morning! the chef will cook you asny ommlette you want, fresh eggs benedict with hollaindaise....Mickey Waffles!!! mmmmmm that day i had the buffet breakfast and then a dole whip at 10 pmand that was it...eurgh i was so full. but so happy. Beaches & cream at the yacht club do very reasonable burgers etc for dinner.
They have a coffee bar in a little lobby area that did pastries and fruit salad etc fairly cheaply, so we had that for breakfast most mornings.
YOu will have an amazing time...nothing quite like coming back to those fantastic beds, with the turn down service having left you a little choccie and a weather notice, a disney film playing on the tv....aaa good times.
suffice to say, our holiday at the swan was truly magical and felt very disney.
