I tried to find a related post so I aplogize if this is a double thread:
This Nov will be our 3rd trip to Disney World and with our soon to be 5 year old son. This year we decided to stay at the Wilderness lodge VIllas.
I am really getting concerned about the bed bug epidemic.
Does anyone know what type of precautions that Disney is taking?
I have a plan of action with my luggage. My clothes will be in space saver bags then once out of the luggage, the luggage will be in a trash bag. I am doing this to avoid bringing them into the room with us from the airplane.
Anyone who has been there recently, can you tell me if noticed any precautions? Like matteresses being incased?

I am so excited about our trip, I am not going to let this ruin it. I just like to be proactive.

Yes, Disney is extremely a sanitary place. My brother worked there, he said they are Very strict with sanitation. Bed Bugs are something you cannot stop from happening. It can and has happened in almost any hotel, anywhere in the world. Disney is MUCH better then most... If there is issues, they will remove everything, including mattress. Like I saw someone else say, it's one in a million shot. Best thing you can do, if you want to be cautious... Check the mattress under the sheets, especially around the seams. I never do it, but its a very good tip for people who worry. I've been there many many times and never had a problem. Just enjoy your trip!

All you can do is simply read up on how to inspect your room for bed bugs before you bring in all of your belongings. Disney is extremely helpful if you do encounter bed bugs in your rooms and have an infestation. The worst that can happen, as op have mentioned, is you could potentially bring the infestation home if not caught. By then you really have no proof that the infestation was caused on Disney property. Universal resorts aren't as understanding if you read up on some of the experiences.

Having experienced a bed bug infested room at BLT, I can tell you it is unpleasant and downright gross. We were moved and reimbursed for clothing items we had to purchase since they properly clean all fabric items. My dad had some bad bites on his legs and the sheets were soiled with blood.

This, like other bad experiences, people tend to ignore or write off until it strikes them personally. People can joke all they want about it, but in reality bed bug infestations exist and they can happen anywhere! We didn't let it completely ruin our vacation and we can laugh about it now, but we are extra cautious where ever we travel to and make sure we check the bed, mattress, night stand and anything made of fabric in the room for feces. Chances are high we will never experience them again, but better safe than sorry.
