I always think I need new sneakers for a trip

Does anyone else get the urge to buy new sneakers/shoes when planning a trip? It always seems like such a good idea since I will be walking so much. Then I remember the times I did and how bad my feet hurt from breaking them in. Nonetheless I found myself looking at the $179 Nikes yesterday and was thinking how great my feet would feel in them. HaHa. I would normally laugh at the idea of sneakers that expensive but when Disney is involved somehow it seems justifiable. In the end I did not buy them but my wife got decent pair of Nikes that were on sale. We leave in 2 days so I advised her to wear them as much as possible before then!

Thank you so much!! I have major sciatica issues (I know... right?!!?) my stiletto heel days are over LOL. I will definately look into Go Walks.... I just need a slight rise in the arch and I'm good. Thank you so much, for your input :) Happy Walking!!

OH...my feet won't even look at stilettos, much less let me try to put any on! lol! I don't mean to be overly picky/detailed, but there are Go Walks and Go Walk 2's - they look very similar, but the GW2's appear to be about $5 more and seem to have just a tiny bit more arch support (but that might just be my imagination ;)), also the fabric/material they are made of is sort of a mesh, while the regular GW's are more of a woven sort of material. I should've said before that they are made to wear without socks, but I have to wear socks with them, so got mine 1/2 size bigger (which is my usual size for sneakers). Thank you & Happy Walking to you too! :D

I bought these for our trip that was in June. I even broke them in ahead of time. The toe area is a little more narrow. By the 3rd day it was lucky I had brought my old shoes with me. So I paid 70 bucks for shoes I can't wear anymore. It was awful. So what size do you wear???:p

I'm so sorry they became uncomfortable, that is miserable on vacation! I will be sure to also take an old pair with me. I'm hoping I won't have any problems since I got a 1/2 size larger so I can wear socks with mine, but I haven't tried walking all day in them yet and I'd rather be prepared! Thanks for the heads-up.

I get mine at least a month and a half before (I start looking about 3 months beforehand - that's how badly I have problems with finding shoes that fit right) and then get new gel inserts, bring moleskin, blister band-aids as well, just in case. You never know. They can be more than broken in and still get blisters.

Me and sneakers don't get along at disney broken in or not, so for me it is either get blisters or suffer the humiliation of wearing the ugliest shoe ever invinted, crocs. I must say though they are seriously ugly I have never even had the slightest hint of a blister when I wear them at disney.

Every year my husbands has to buy a pair of Nike monarch air he takes them out of the box the morning we head to the air port. For my son and I we wait till we get there and buy a new pair of crocs. I wish disney would bring back the fitflops, they where so much more comfortable than the crocs and way better looking.

All the time! This time I found new ones that don't need to be broken in because are so light weight and comfy! The Nike Flex's... They have them in so many colors. I bought two pairs for Disney. They are only $70 at JC Penny's. Before I used to buy new ones and they would end up killing my feet.

I don't get new sneakers, but I always go and buy brand new socks and just chuck the package right in the suitcase. There's nothing like a new pair of socks for a long day of walking around the parks.

I have the double wammy of wide feet and plantar fasciitis. My solution to both has long been properly sized New Balance shoes and gel insoles. While I don't buy a new pair before every WDW visit, I don't ever wear an old pair there as I am of the belief that the 'cushioning' in shoes becomes less effective over time.

I don't know that it is strictly necessary to break a pair of shoes in prior to hard use, but if I need a pair, I tend to buy them a few weeks before the trip and start wearing them. I buy them a couple weeks 'early' simply because I buy them online. (It's cheaper and easier.) I start wearing them as soon as I get them because the point in buying them was to replace a worn out pair.

It should be noted that I also take two pairs of athletic shoes on vacation; each with a different sole pattern. Back in college, I waited on tables and I quickly learned that rotating different shoes made for a less painful experience.

I went out on a limb this weekend and bought new sneaks for the October trip. I got Under Armour spines for less than $50, so I figured I'd a shot with them. I need to get the gel inserts but other than that, I have to break them in over the next 25 days. The last time we went down I used old sneaks that destroyed my feet by day 3, so hoping new sneaks keep them in better shape. I'm not sure how people do sandals or flip flops there - I'm so clumsy I'd be breaking toes left and right...lol

New sneakers no, but I'm a glutton for punishment and buy new sandals. 2 pairs for our trip on the 21st. Our last trip I didn't bring enough shoes and I swear I had trench foot by day 2. So this time I'm bringing 2 pairs of sandals, an old pair of sneakers I can toss at the end of the trip, and a pair of flip flops for floppy around the hotel. Oh, and about 30 pairs of performance socks! I'm seriously hoping my feet do better thus year.
