People often talk about moving attractions, but is it reasonably possible to move Star Tours? (and that’s a real question; I honestly don’t know). The simulators are huge, and they are reportedly sunk deeply into concrete in order to be stable. I can’t imagine it would be easy or cheap to move.

EDIT: follow up point: even if Disney could move Star Tours at a non-prohibitive price, would they want a last-generation (at least) attraction in their shiny new show case area of the park?

I understand why they aren't moving Star Tours. Even though I rarely ride it (not even in my top 10 at DL proper) it feels like it's a shame for the park to just lose this (E ticket) experience. I get that the Falcon will probably make Star Tours redundant. If history has told me anything though, a lot of folks will miss it regardless. There are certain intangibles that aren't carried over even if the Falcon is the shiny new toy. Just one small thing off the top of my head... that na-na-na-na-na alert sound (I wish I could whistle it for you cuz you prob have no clue what I'm talking about) when your in the queue. Then again, I'm someone who misses Harolds old roars, although the new AAs are great.

Since it's obvious that Star Tours will becom another IP ride.... A Wall E ride would take very little re theming in regards to the queue. However, I don't think it's a hot enough IP or sell nearly enough merch.

I got to agree with you. There is no reason from a corporate point of view to change it out even after SWL opens. Corporate won't remove it unless they needed the space for some bigger attraction in a new Tomorrowland or it is a walk on for years. The ride will **** off the Disneyana because a "non-home grown IP" is now in two areas of the Walt's park but we all know corporate could care less.

Yeah, but a lot of the reasons for keeping it are a lot of the reasons for linking to a different IP. Maybe not Iron Man, but it it probably wouldn't be too difficult to switch out Star Wars for some other IP. One where you can randomize segments etc.

Sure. Its possible but why spend the money? If something is popular why change it?

To me, Star Tours closed when they changed it to its current iteration. I found the old one to be much more personable and enjoyable. I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the current version and put in an actual ride that isn't a simulator, since the Millenium Falcon in SWL will be a much better simulator.

I'm also a bit disappointed that Hyperspace is returning, but I understand why it is.

Completely agree with this whole post. I greatly prefer the original version of Star Tours and would enjoy seeing the current version go bye-bye.

I had the 'pleasure' of one last spin on Star Tours 1.0 earlier this year. Memories are kinder to the past than reality. 2.0 is infinitely superior and seems to be a better marketing vehicle to actually add new scenes to the attraction. 1.0 story was tighter, but the re-rideability of 2.0 more than makes up for that.

I love Back to the Future, but I'd put it in the same category that it was well time to put it out to pasture. Seeing it many years later in Japan too reiterated that.

I would love to have a 3D-converted original film as an option in the ride's randomizer. You still couldn't have Rex back, but it's something. :)

A 3D version of the original would be fun but they kind of already did that with the Boba Fett asteroids scene and Vader/Death Star scene. That part was suppose to be the updated version of that.
