Hurricanes!

We are sailing on the Dream on 9/14/2015 (our first cruise!) I was born and raised in South Florida and have been through many hurricanes so I knew booking this meant I was booking right smack in the middle of Hurricane season and I was willing to take that risk.

Right now, Tropical Storm Erika is projected to strengthen to a hurricane and hit South Florida early next week which means she won't affect our cruise directly, but given how fast she came on the heels of Danny, it got me thinking about what does happen if a hurricane does happen during a cruise. How likely are they to cancel or do they change the itinerary? Just curious and keeping my fingers crossed that Fred doesn't happen anytime soon.

We sail on the 7th. We were worried about Labor traffic on the beachline and now we're worrying about hurricanes.

The DCL Officers and crew are excellent and well trained. The vessel may do any of a number of things, say in port (not a good idea in a hurricane), leave early or late, change routing and speed. they may change the entire cruise. This is likely with Erika for the Fantasy has a eastern cruise, but with the storm going up the eastern side of Florida, she may change off to a western.

Don't worry now, it way to far out!

Our little TS Miss Erika seems to be a gal with a mind of her own......she is going where she wants to go! Not where she would likely be expected to go. Thursday she was arching toward the east and today she's veering to the west and is heading up the west coast of Florida.

I am sorry for the guests at WDW. They will likely be under her Tuesday.

I would point out we are talking TS now not a full hurricane.

Honestly , the Fantasy maybe able to run pass her to the north and then do her normal western cruise or take a eastern.

The Dream returning and saiing Monday is right in it. However she could go east and avoid most of it.

I would expect to hear something about the Fantasy tonight or Saturday before sailing.

We are still in the flip the coin realm of possibilities. The Captain I am sure is looking over the weather and tracking reports very 4 hours as they come out! I wonder if he has a coin in his pocket?(joking)

Well seems Grace is starting her track across the Atlantic and I am getting a feeling this one may hold together!

Time will tell.
