Still no power. (I am writing from work, where there is power.)

Getting used to cold showers! I miss the Today Show in the mornings, though. Although I have found that I get up earlier now, and get more done before work. Have breakfast (at McDonald's) more often than I would have.

Went to the county fair (which as open, with power) last night with our church youth. We will be meeting together again tonight to help another senior citizen with debris removal.

My brother is a music teacher at a high school, and they are still out of power. School is supposed to start on Tuesday, and since most of the rest of the county has finally gotten power, they are telling him and the other teachers there that the county still plans to start on time on Tuesday for all schools, but his principal has said that if power is still not on by today (which it is not), he is going to fight tooth and nail to push back the start of school. Teachers have not power to make copies or even see in their rooms (which have limited or no windows) without a flashlight. They can't even distribute the schedules. You can go back to blackboards for all info, I guess, but it is difficult to get info out to all 2500 students.

The most fun has been the stoplights without power on four-or-six-lane highways crossing each other. Most are working now, but for days, we navigated them. We were supposed to treat them as four-way stops (basic driver's ed.), but most people did not! And I have to admit, it was hard to do that when you were on the main road. But some people did, and others tended to follow once the first one stopped for someone to cross.

Anyhow, we will see what happens ahead.

By the way, the power company called in the early morning (3:58 a.m.) on Wednesday morning to "confirm" (automated) that my power had been restored. I woke up, looked around, and had to "punch '3' if it has not been restored"! So, I had a false alarm, but I called them back to make sure that they still had me on the list of "out of power" after that. Don't know why that call came if power was not restored (which is automatic if you have called your outage in, once it is restored), but it was amusing and disappointing at the same time!
