Hurricane Dennis?????

We are traveling down on Tuesday. I have checked the Weather Channels 10 day forcast and it is showing rain for our entire stay. I am not sure if this is a mess from the hurricane or if this is the normal Orlando afternoon thunderstorm.

My question is, SHOULD WE REBOOK for different dates because of this hurricane?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No matter when you go to WDW you're likely to get rained on. Espescially this time of year. Go and have fun. Just make sure you pack rain ponchos. :)

....I posted this in another thread when we were talking about hurricanes....

I was at the Polynesian last year during Hurricane Charlie. The morning of we got a message on our phone that all the parks were opened till one the day the storm was supposed to hit (which was around 6pm) and we wouldn't get counted for a day in the park on our ticket. We were at the Magic Kingdom and promptly at 1 an announcement came through the parks to exit and that the park was closing. That was definititely weird to hear that in the middle of the park. We went back to the Poly concerige lounge and just hung out with everyone else. We played games and were watching the lifeguards bundle up chairs and tie trash cans to trees. My mom and I went up the the Great Ceremonial House...we saw Lilo and Stitch and Snow White and her prince. Ohana's were letting people eat, but the just had a buffet line and for 20 dollars you could walk through once and then take your food to your room. We got the word now that everyone had to stay inside so, we went back to the concerige lounge and just watched the hurricane begin. That was very scary because the castle would dissappear and you couldn't see anything in the whole seven seas lagoon and the it looked like the water was going to crash into the building the way it was billowing up. We eventually went back to our room where we found a flashlight and a note with instructions it said to stay away from the window/sliding glass doors and if things got worse that we would be evacuated to one of the convention centers. The eye of the storm hit about 11pm and that was probably the scariest because it felt like the roof was gonna cave in (yet we were on the 1st floor). But it was definitely an experience.

And if I had to be in one place during a hurricane i would definitely pick wdw!!!!

So i would say you really have nothing to worry about. Especially Disney was up and working the next morning when most towns still didnt not have power. Disney handled everything beautifully and considering your flight plans don't get delayed....I would just not even think about... your in disney for goodness sakes... hurricane or not!!!

I live in Florida, and rains here most afternoons in the summer months, so even if the hurricane wasn't passing nearby, you would likely be dealing with some rain anyway. By your arrival date, you should not feel much of the effects of the hurricane as it will have passed central Florida by that time. In short, I don't think you should be at all concerned. On the plus side, you may even encounter smaller crowds! Have a great time!

Thank you all so much for all the encouragement. I definately feel better. I was always planning on the afternoon thunderstorms but when I checked Weather Channels web site (only because of Dennis) they make the forcast look so bleak for the entire weak.

We will go on Tuesday and never look back. And thanks Mandi, your story about Charly definately made me feel MUCH better.

My vacation last year had me headed straight for Orando at the time when Category Eight-Bazillion hurricane Ivan was headed there, too. The only change to my plans was I moved from an off-site hotel to a Disney Hotel, since I knew almost all of their utilities were handled onsite and securely underground and, thus, I likely wouldn't wind up without water or power. Luckily, the storm veered away, and the crowds were virtually nil. Probably the best Disney trip I've ever had.

My husband is a teacher so we don't have too many options other than traveling during the holidays.

Go and plan on getting wet. You will likely find that crowds will be a little lighter due to the weather. Take a poncho and a mini umbrella for each person and you will have a blast. Plus it will be cooler (as cool goes for July in Fla). You will have a good time.
