Hurricane Damage Leaves Half of Orlando without Power

This is a rumor that is going around in michigan. I have a trip planned for 10-13 through 10-25 and what I am hearing is that 1/2 of Orlando is out of power etc. I've checked all over on the net and there is no website that says "Don't come here, cancel your trip because conditions are bad" - but I'd love some first hand knowledge.

Please chime in if you have any info to share!

Thanks!

Don't believe everything you hear or read. A few weeks ago when I was working at my Disney Store, a family came in saying that while they were down there, they were planning on boiling their water since the water is contaminated. That's not true. If you have any questions or concerns, I'd call or email Disney directly.

Thanks to both of you for responding. I read the letter which seems to indicate that WDW is working as normal. I had a feeling that the trouble was exaggerated; but you never know. I'm wondering if the surrounding areas faired as well ... i.e. Kissimmee, Celebration, and ClearWater Beach.

Yes there is, but this fits fine here...you are asking a question, not reporting on the weather conditions. Don't worry about it...if the moderators want it moved they will do so.
Hope you have a great trip! (and bring us some pictires. )

Well... if you're staying ON property, then Disney will take care of the water themselves, I'm sure. However, if you're staying off property, then that area very well could be under a boil water alert.

I live right behind Cinderella Castle, and we are under a boil water alert.

It's not contaminated - it just tastes pretty nasty to begin with.

I came back from Kissimme less than two weeks ago - there were a lot of advert and signs on buildings that were showing damage, plus some downed trees. My hotel there was still in one piece.
