Are you working at MK again this summer?

I hope to, but I e-mailed my manager in Fantasyland, and they aren't sure they can give ANY of us seasonal people ANY hours at all this year! He said he'd do what he could, but Disney has been hit just as hard by this recession as any other business. Sooooo...I won't know until June. But, with so many people losing their REAL jobs (and their insurance coverage), I can hardly complain about this.

I'll cross all my crossables for you.

I know what you mean about people losing jobs though. Dave is retiring in June, not exactly willingly, because if he doesn't go now, we stand to lose a lot of the retirement benefits we've been paying into for the past 30 years.

I'm sure Disney is cutting back on the Seasonal people so as NOT to cut back on the full-timers, and I have no problem with that. I hope they find some hours for me in July, but time will tell, I guess!

I hear you on the retirement benefits - my husband retired from teaching for the very same reason!

Dave wasn't ready to retire, and he's a great teacher, but in the long run, we couldn't afford for him to not retire. It's so crazy!

Are you home with him? I am still teaching, so I get up and go to work every day. He found that hard at first, but now he's busy with his composing career (we're both musicians), so he's fine with retirement. It was an adjustment at first, though.

I just went back to full-time teaching last spring, and I have to go at least another 2 years to pay for DS' college tuition. After that, I'm out of there, and hopefully we'll move south.
