Huge Storms in WDW

YES YES YES!

The ponchos did not work at all that New Years Eve. When you are walking in standing water and crossing rivers that really separate Mexico from Norway, the water sponges up all the way to your belt by means of your pants. Then your shirt was drenched.

And everyone was miserab;e b/c no one e xpected it. So people were in their worst forms, mean, cruel, and obnoxious.

Yep guys. It was pouring today. Im going to take this straight out of an email I sent to some of my friends today. I almost lost my life due to the storms today :

It was POURING when we got outta school. We were walking toward the bus, actually, running, and tifani and jason and I were laughing so hard...Like, i never heard tifani laugh like that,...SHE WAS SPITTIN ON HERSELF!!! like, all this spit came out and I almost ______'d myself right there, I was so close...I'll tell you why when you get home, but anyways, here is what happend...

My bus driver was driving like, at 45 mph down the road. Everything was fine, until, like 20 feet in front of us, the road was SO under water, like, there was no way we could go thru it the way we were going so fast. She hit the breaks real fast, and we didn't slow down...instead we tilted right, and then over to the left, and we were SO close to tipping over, and I was sitting right on the left side by the window...If we we're to tip over, I'd been gone. We would of prob. flipped a few times too...When we was tilting, I grabbed on to the seat in front of me SO hard, and everyone was screaming. Our bus driver like, swerved into the grass and we kept going really slow. No one talked for like, 2 whole mins...For real, I was mad scared, like, people weren't lying when they say they see their life flash in front of their eyes...Anyways, maybe I can get the preview up tonight...ttyl

The bad thing about World Showcase in the rain is that it floods. I remember one time it was pouring and they had just canceled Illuminations and we were trying to get out of the park, it was raining so hard we got traped in one of the stores for at least 45 minutes. As we tried again to leave we tried to walk around all the puddles, but the thing was it was all One Great Big Puddle. I was wet in places I didn't even know I had.

Down here, the afternoon storm is an accepted thing. We alternate drought conditions and severe storms (we get storms all spring and summer anytime between 2 pm and 5 pm, and very little rain the rest of the year, unless of course you happen to make a trip to WDW, when it appears to rain each time  )

EXACTLY.

My wife and I were eating at San Angel Cantina when it started pouring. Got a pic of it I'll need to upload some time. We were under the umbrella tables so we didn't think we'd have a problem. But then the seating area started filling up. After about 10 minutes of this down pour, we were sitting in about 2 inches of water and rising fast. Had to make a run for it to get inside Mexico.

Gotta love the rain!

Whew! We just go back from Orlando yesterday, looks like we got back just in time. Too bad for those who are vacationing there right now though. :(

This isn't a very common storm system.

There's rain from Texas to Florida. Not very many systems stretch rain across that much ground.

Plus it's been raining constantly for about 12 hours now and it doesn't look like it's going to stop for another 12-24.

So much for Spectromagic tonight. It was the only scheduled performance for the week until Saturday.

Yeah... it was pretty nasty all day today. I tried to brave MGM but it just wasn't happening. Later tonight, I swam over to a friend of mine's apt. It was horrible. Just had to happen on my days off. :(

WDW got nailed today, there was a tornado watch, but I haven't heard of any actual damage in the Orlando area, some of Central FL was shown on the weather channel earlier, though, outlying areas, that had signifigant damage.

535, the area where it almost borders WDW, had inches of water covering its surface for a while, almost didn't make it to class today.
Yesterday was a pretty big mess around my house- off 535 by the backside of Magic Kingdom. Storms were off and on through the morning and much of the afternoon. Lightning hit our phone line. In the evening the rain was pretty constant. Looks like today might not be much better.

It rains at least one day when I go in December. One in particular was December 2002, right after entering the gates at MK for MVMCP. It was a torrential downpour. We took cover under a vacated popcorn stand with about 30 other people and sung Christmas carols for about an hour. Anyway we finally decided to swim over to Tomorrowland and get our MVMCP pin. We found out that the Christmas parades were cancelled as well as the shows. We ended up getting 1 day park hopper passes in exhange for our rained out MVMCP. It was disappointing since it was to be my daughters and my dads first MVMCP, BUT the 1 day phs made up for it AND we were sucessful in attending this past December.

A scary storm come up last July during the end of Spectromagic that had me grabbing my child and running for cover. The lightning was too close for comfort and was worse on the drive back to Daytona.

I was there that night! I was so excited cause I actually got one of the parties off, and it was a CM discount night at that... and then it POURED! We sat near the entrance to Tomorrowland and drank a looooot of hot chocolate and ate a loooooooot of cookies. But Guest Relations was cool and let me exchange my ticket for another night (even though the night I exchanged for wasn't a discounted night :P)

We couldn't go another night, that's why we ended up with the hopper passes. Glad you got to go at a later date. And yes, I remember them pushing the hot chocolate and cookies, please take more than one (how many times will you hear that in WDW?). We are totally soaked in our family Christmas picture.

I got to skip the rain yesterday, but it hit about 7:30 really hard, right before I had to go in. I fought with an umbrella, I won, but not before it got me SOAKED!

Never fails, it always rains at least one day while were @ WDW. This past year it rained everyday. We even found ourselves in the middle of a tornado warning. That was a trip. We had just gotten out of WWTBAM - Play It! and they made us go back in the building. They wanted us to go watch the show again. Hello, glass floors.
