Oh, I totally agree - the original is much, much better. No Jack Sparrow, the original song (which was much more prominent), the pirates chasing the women...
Here's another fun fact. The "fire" burning up in the windows? Fans, blowing sheets and a red light.
Whatever happened to the smokey smell in the burning village? The last few visits have not had the burning wood odor, it was a key part of the complete immersion.
Yeah, LOL... If you didn't see the underwater mermaids, you might say that's "normal." Normal as in broken.

No, PotC used to have the same burning smell too but it was a LONGGGGG time ago.

Not so much a secret - but easy to miss, especially if you don't know to look for it... As it's clever.
Ever notice when you round the corner in PotC, past the underwater mermaids and you're coming up on the beach... The rocks to the left form a skull from a distance? But as you approach, you realize it's just careful layering of rocks. It was added along with the rest of the mermaid stuff (underwater effect, beach skeleton, haunting song, etc.) Nice one, Imagineers!

Try this - it might send chills up your spine. Look at the top picture with the song playing, and make "wind blowing noises" with your mouth. Creepy, right?! Almost like you're right there on the ride.
YES!!! Thank you. My 12 year old kid pointed that out. A million times on that ride and studying the heck out of it for years, I never saw that until last month. Brilliant! Thanks for pointing that out.
