How's the German Restaurant at Epcot? Food and entertainment?

This is my Dad's favorite restaurant at Epcot, maybe at all of Disney. We've gone there several times. The food is buffet style. My memory's fuzzy on whether we went for lunch or supper. Dad likes to get a big, glass mug of beer. You sit at a long table with other guests--hopefully they're friendly and you can strike up a conversation. A trio of German musicians perform classic songs with German instruments and invite audience participation.

The food is passable German fare but not entirely authentic.
My German Grandma would have recognized it but not necessarily enjoyed it.
The atmosphere is nice, albeit too dark, and the German performers are quite good.
I would have liked to eat there on our last visit but the rest of our group didn't care for it so we passed it up.

We've eaten at the Biergarten the last three trips and will be going again this summer. I love the little fruit compotes and vanilla sauce. My husband and dad love the different types of sausages available as well as the cold and hot salads. Each family that we were seated with were very nice. The one time a couple we were seated with were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, so we bought them some beers. It is fun to watch the children dance by the stage during the show. We have been a party of 4 and 5 when we went and I believe the tables mostly seat 8. My son is now 9 and he has never had a problem finding food to eat at the buffet. I would recommend dinner as the food is too heavy for lunch in my opinion.

Even if you don't do the sit down meal, you can stop at the Sommerfest counter service and order the Nudel Gratin, (basically mac & cheese), but AWESOME mac & cheese and wash it down with a Schofferhofer pink grapefruit beer...

We went once. Food was ok, I am sure would be much better if that was your palate of choice.

It was the seating that got us. The family we sat with made some inappropriate racial and anti-Semitic remarks because “this is Germany”. Lucky for them, my wife was getting food when it happened.
